I read on Yahoo Answers that people who want to be actors should take classes. ?

    Favourite answer:

Chuck Norris was a "martial", not "marshal" artist.

All three men wanted to act (or they would not have become actors). They used what they already learned: how to move and effective timing, how to build up the body and pose, how to sing and tell "down-home-Southern" stories. Then they studied how other actors moved and spoke their lines.

In the days before acting schools, Lillian Gish, the silent screen actress, recounted that before they were famous, she, her sister Dorothy, and Mary Pickford, would go to matinee performances and say, "What discount do you give to fellow professionals?"  Usually they got good seats or could stand in the wings. They watched the actors play their roles. Actors in other touring companies did the same when they saw Mary and the Gish sisters act. They learned from each other. She said they were always learning and trying out how other actors played their roles, how scenes were lit, what would "work" for them.

They also learned from their directors  (Lillian said that Mary would argue with her director D. W. Griffith until he shot the scene twice: her way and his way. Sometimes she won. Not often, and after a Lot of arguing. )

Should I go to this casting call?

I say an online ad for a casting call for an actor in an adult movie. The pay was great.  One of the qualifications was to “keep it up for an hour”.  I wonder what they want me to keep up for an our? I can certainly say my lines for an hour?

    Any ideas?

My bf says he wants to be an actor ?

    Favourite answer:

Has he ever showed any interest in acting before? Did he have an interest in theater and films in high school? Does he actually show an interest in the craft of acting? Or is he just another unrealistic wannabe who wants the fame and fortune without doing the hard work? If he truly has an interest in acting, and has previously taken acting classes and participated in theater productions, then he should pursue his dreams. Just make sure he knows he has to keep his day job. Make it clear that you have no intention of supporting him financially. If he’s never showed any interest before, and isn’t interested in actually being an actor, then he’s just a childish little boy with a childish dream. Lots of people decide they wanna be actors because they think it’s glamorous and they wanna be rich and famous. In reality, most actors wait tables to actually pay the bills. Lots of people move to LA to be actors. Only the ones with real talent and determination have a chance to make it in that business. And even most of the talented, determined actors don’t ever get a paid acting job. I think your bf needs a reality check. Maybe he should spend some time with some actual actors so he can get an idea of what being an actor is REALLY like. It’s definitely not all red carpets and paparazzi. It’s mostly a lot of hard work for no reward, and working for minimum wage to pay the bills.

Does keeping a journal as the characters you're playing help you get into character?

I feel like it helps me have a better understanding of who my character is and as I write in it I find myself feeling angry and happy and sad as them depending on what they are going through. I feel like it makes my connection with them so much more personal.

Does anyone else use this method?

Do Schools Pay "Royalty Fees" for their Broadway Adaptations?

The school Director of my High School who has been in the position for 12 years is in her last year. She will stop once the schoolyear ends. She was a nice woman. Before I graduated, she told our batch that we are one of her favorite batches. I found out her reason for resigning. She is facing charges for unpaid stuff that were long overdue. Yeah That is understandable she has to pay and resign but what Im baffled is that she should pay for "royalty fee" of the school adaptation of "Into the Woods". The Theater Club did a play of Into the Woods back in 2013 and apparently, the school should pay for "licensing". I don't get it. We are not an official theater group who performs locally or itnernationally. We are just a school being a normal school where normal schools do their own adaptations of movies/broadways.

In Short, from what I heard from my friend, the director is supposed to pay a "licensed or royalty" fee for Into the Woods even if we are jsut a school. I thought only Official and Licensed Theater Groups do that.

    Favourite answer:

Ask Nicole Kidman (53); Halle Berry (54); Helen Mirren (74); Meryl Streep (71); Helena Bingham Carter (54); Salma Hayek (54), Viola Davis (55); Diane Lane (55); Sandra Bullock (56); Laura Linney (56); Angela Bassett (62); Vanessa Williams (57); Jamie Lee Curtis (62); Emma Thompson (61); Queen Latifah (50); Renée Zellweger (50); Kathy Bates (71); Julia Louis-Dreyfus (59); Rita Moreno (88) and many others.

My guess is they’d say no.

How can i become a famous actress if i live in england?

    Favourite answer:

It's good to have aspirations. Have you considered Britain's Got Talent? Perhaps you have a particular talent like singing or dancing? Or if that is something you're not ready for, join a troupe or area acting group locally and see where that takes you.

Brighton, England is known clear over here in the USA, and English actors are well-liked here, so by working locally you could even build a strong enough resume by the time you go to university to attract the attention of a quality school here in the USA to come here and study theater on a scholarship if you have the theatre skills & are a good student.

    Good luck to you.

What are some good UK acting agencies?

    Favourite answer:

I'm sorry, but very few genuine agencies will even consider you unless you've graduated from a top UK drama school.  It's unfair, short-sighted and prejudiced, but that's how it is.  And at the moment, there are hundreds of thousands of unemployed actors, very little work and who knows when we'll get back to 'normal'.

Your only chance is if you've had a few years at a really good acting school and loads of impressive experience in short films, student films and on stage - in leading roles.

I know a lot of actors like you, and it's taken a few of them years to get signed with any genuine agency at all, and the rest still cannot find an agent.

Now is a really bad time to try to break into acting.  I'd recommend concentrating on getting qualifications and experience in whatever you've chosen as your 'day job', and get the best training and experience as an actor that you can AFTER the virus crisis is over.

    Good luck!

Why is The box office closed at Les miserables at the moment ?

    Favourite answer:

Because they aren't performing it now and they don't know when they will be allowed to re-open.  Isn't that obvious?  Have you not noticed that we're in lockdown?

Why is porn not considered real acting?

    Favourite answer:

I'm pretty sure back in the day when it first started, it used to just be people going at it and nothing else. When they were threatened with being shut down because what they were doing was no better than prostitution, they began adding short skits and dialog to the films so that they could legally fall under the category of movies. Everything was poorly written and quickly put together because obviously the main focus was the sex, which is why it always came off so horrible and comedic, because they literally put no effort into it. The only reason they have scripts, directors, sets, and all that is because they have to. The last thing they care about is talent because the whole point is the sex. It's not real acting because there's no real acting involved and you don't do four years of acting school for p0rn. You just memorise a couple lines and then bone. There's no skill involved, no talent, you're not getting paid for your acting ability, the dialog doesn't matter, the story doesn't matter, the characters don't matter,  there's no emotion, nobody is actually watching to be 'entertained', etc. Very rarely will you see p0rnstars lead successful acting careers outside of adult entertainment, and even if they do it's rarely anything super significant. Most of them aren't great actors and their delivery usually still comes off as weird and awkward. Similar to when most wrestlers try to become actors. Its just weird, but the odd one can pull it off. You're also not going to see p0rn films advertised and released like normal movies. There won't be billboards, or commercials, or any of that stuff. They won't come out in theatres and you won't find them while flipping through your favourite tv channels. P0rnos aren't movies with sex in them, they're sex flicks with short occasional movie elements peppered in. Real actors popularity is based on their abilities. P0rn actors popularity is based on how hot they are.

We could talk about this forever and go over every little detail, but there's really no point. Someone will always argue different, especially if they're in the industry, but there's really nothing backing p0rn up in this case. Nothing about it makes it great or noteworthy in the same regard as regular movies and actors. You can argue that it's a great and successful career all you want, and while I'm not entirely against, there's just far more factors against it than for it.
