  • hasselblad 500C mirror up?

I recently received (yesterday) an old Hasselblad 500C with zeiss 80mm f/2.8 and A120 film back. This camera has seen much better days, and I wouldn't be surprised if it has been sitting for 10 years without use.

anyway, I got the camera, but the mirror was up, and I can't see anything from the viewfinder/focusing screen (?). I took the lens and back off to take peek inside. Now, when I try to put the lens back on, it refuses to mount. Both the body and lens are coked and ready to fire, but the mirror remains up, and I can't seem to find a way to get it down.

the second problem is that I can't seem to wind the camera itself via the crank, so if I do trigger the camera, I have to recok it by sticking a screwdriver in through the auxiliary shutter and wind it up with the little silver screw crank at the bottom, center of the camera.

is there anything I can do, or should I just get a quote on a complete overhaul/CLA?

also, are there any hassy repair businesses that you recommend?

I'll provide as much additional information as I can, but this being the first time touching a medium format camera, and an old, 50+ year old hassy at that... well, i'll be as helpful as I can

    good day.

yes co(c)k is misspelled because it seems that Y!A doesn't like that word

  • okay guys...Fujifilm X100 or X10?

You camera folk might know me, but now, after going over pretty much all the specs of both cameras over the past month, my dad and I have reached a predicament. Which camera should we get?

we want a small backup camera for when we go to India over new years. We can see us getting either camera and being happy, but perhaps there is something we are not seeing.

Price is not an issue, so you can disregard that.

    X100- APS-C sensor

    fast f/2 36mm (equiv) lens

great reviews from people like Ken Rockwell and other people

    X10- 2/3" sensor

    fast f/2-f/2.8 4x zoom lens

    much obliged

  • Camera Lens Adapter (SLR-DSLR)?

I have the Nikon D40 and I wish to use my SLR lenses on them

I found this adapter and wanted re-assurance that they would all work, or most of them.

the camera that originally used and still uses these lenses is a Minolta X-700 SLR

    The lenses are as followed:

    Tokina 50-200mm f3.5-f22 telephoto (it says M/MD)

Vivitar 28-85mm f3.5-f16 (it says MC)

    Tokina fixed 35mm f2.8-f16 (M/MD)

    Minolta fixed 50mm f1.4-f16 (MD)

then a teleconverter: Vivitar MC 2x-5 teleconverter

if you can find a cheaper converter or have reasons why I should not use the converter, please, spill.

    cheers- Dr. Iblis

  • Best guitar solo piece of all time?

So... what is your favorite guitar solo piece of all time? It can be solos in songs, but I am aiming for things like Scuttle Buttin by SRV (my favorite) or Eruption by Van Halen!

  • Who would YOU choose?

Now lets play a little game. You need to create a band using individual artists from any rock/metal/electronica/whatever band, dead or alive, or zombie. You will need:

    1 Drummer

    1-3 Guitars

    1-2 Singers

    1 Bassist

1 not normal instrument (sax, trumpet, piano, etc) (optional)

Also, only one artist can come from one band, IE you cannot choose Syd and Roger from Pink Floyd to be on the same band. Also, please list where that artist is from, or famous from.

    anyway:

    David Gilmour- Pink Floyd- Guitar/Singer

    Tom Hamilton- Aerosmith- Bass

Colin Hay- Men at Work- Guitar/Singer

    Neil Peart- Rush- Drummer

    Jordan Rudess- Dream Theater- keyboard

  • 1999 Chevy s10 ECM price?

So yeah, my car randomly decided to die as I entered the highway on the first day of classes. Anyway, we brought it to the shop and they think it has something to do with the ECM. They will look around for any broken cables, etc, whatever to isolate the problem.

Just how much would getting an ECM+installation cost on my '99 s10?
