  • Alcohol - How could either of us have gotten in trouble?

    I live in Montana.

I’m not worried about anything happening right now, because too much time has passed. But I’m curious about the potential ramifications of this situation.

When I was almost 19 (I’m 29 now), I went to a friend’s house to visit with him and his family before we went to our senior graduation party. While we were there, his parents let me have a beer. After a while, we left for our party.

In this scenario, no cops came, nobody got hurt or killed, no accidents happened, no property damage was inflicted, everybody made it to the party and the party went off without a hitch.

What would have needed to happen in order for any of us to get arrested? Could someone have reported us after the fact and gotten us in trouble? Would the cops have had to see it happening? If someone had called the cops say, a few days later, would they have been able to do anything? What if I had been younger and only had a couple of sips of beer rather than a whole bottle? Could my parents have called the police say, a day later and gotten my friend’s folks in trouble?

  • How intensely do cops investigate these crimes?

Underage possession or drinking? Traffic infractions? Furnishing to minors? Public intoxication? Most misdemeanors?

  • Alcohol question - could either of us have gotten in trouble?

I live in Montana. I am not worried about anything happening right now because too much time has passed, but I am curious if something could have happened at the time.

Back when I was 18 (I’m 29 now), I went to a friend’s house to visit with him and his parents before we went to our graduation party. While we were visiting, the parents let me have a beer. I paced myself and after a while I left.

In this scenario, I was not pulled over, didn’t have any issue with police, nobody got hurt, no damage was caused to property, everybody at the gathering made it to the graduation party, and the party itself went off without a hitch.

Could either myself or the parents have gotten in trouble in this situation? If so, how? And how long after the fact would trouble have been possible? Would the cops be able to do anything solely on somebody else’s word? Could someone report the particular event after the fact?

  • Could either of us have gotten in trouble for this?

I live in Montana. I’m not worried about anything happening now because too much time has passed, but I am wondering in this situation if either of us could have gotten in trouble.

Back when I was 18 (I’m 29 now), I stopped at a friend’s house before we had our graduation party and his parents let me have a beer. In this situation, no cops showed up, I did not get into an accident or cause any damages, everybody left the gathering just fine and our all night party went off without a problem at all.Could I have gotten in trouble for this at the time? If so, what would it have taken? Would the police have had to see this happening? Could somebody have reported it after the fact and got us in trouble?
