2 AnswersPolls & Surveys5 years agoHelp: Need assistance identifying a certain kind of grass or lawn weed for writing purposes (see details)?
This plant grows very commonly in the southern US. It looks like a tall kind of grass, except it has a fork on top, like two spokes. Shaped like a V. What is this plant called?
4 AnswersGarden & Landscape5 years agoWhy do Christians in the US down on Muslims and Sharia when many of them advocate for American laws being based on the Bible?
That's still a religious system of laws. Given some of the laws in the Bible, I don't see how one is much better than another.
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoDoesn't it seem parts of the gospels are copied from Homer? Example: the parable of the vineyard follows the order/motif of the suitors?
Jesus says the master went to a faraway country, and his estate was left to wicked servants who mistreated the master's servants, and then plotted to kill the master's son, the heir of his estate
The Odyssey says Odysseus went to Troy, and Telemachus left to find news of him, so the suitors trying to marry Penelope plotted to kill him upon his return and take his estate
5 AnswersMythology & Folklore5 years agoDoes it seem like American fundamentalists are getting nastier and more extreme as time goes on?
I grew up in the 90s, and they honestly didn't seem this bad back then.
10 AnswersOther - Society & Culture5 years agoDear liberals, how do we stop the Evangelical Taliban trying to dictate American life at every turn, and deny people's fundamental rights?
Since its radical Christianity that is the real threat to our country

13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoHow can people in the year 2016 still treat the Bible as though it had all of life's answers, right down to the finest details?
They realize the Bible didn't give them any of the modern things they enjoy right? In fact, they only have many of those technologies because people rejected the Biblical view of the world.
23 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoDoes the Bible allow for accepting the possibility of extraterrestrial life?
I'm just curious how many Christians could actually entertain the possibility of life on other planets. Because you get these hard-lined literalists who think anything not in the Bible is to be rejected...
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoDoes the fact that everything consists of particles constitute a kind of oneness in the universe?
I m an atheist, but I m philosophically atomist. I think this is called particle or material monism?
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoWhat are your thoughts on Unitarian Universalism?
I'm an atheist, but I'm joining my local UU congregation in February because I feel the work of people of all worldviews coming together to change humanity is important, and I feel like the church is a place we put differences aside to cultivate and focus on that.
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoWhat is your worldview or religion (atheist, Christian, etc), and who are you supporting for prez?
I'm an atheist, supporting Bernie
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoWhy can't people accept Odin, even when there are no ice giants, and the Eddas say he killed them all? Its in the Poetic Edda!?
Why do you think that is?
8 AnswersMythology & Folklore5 years agoWhen will evangelicals finally admit they no longer represent the majority- how many more human rights battles will they have to lose?
Because even after this gay rights victory and statistics showing the majority supported it, evangelicals keep insisting the majority didn't
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoUltimately, is anti theism useful for advancing our species within a humanistic framework?
As an atheist, I have to say no. We may not agree with the believer, but if they aren't harming anyone in any way, it doesn't benefit anything to keep fighting.
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoWhat makes the Bible's claims more likely to be true than Homer's claim the Muses inspired his poetry- since neither are falsifiable?
God and the Olympians turn out to be unverifiable hypotheses of equal weight
