Why is YA so badly screwed up?
No answer block on some questions. "We are experiencing problems" on some questions and clickability (hand pointer) being lost
3 AnswersPolls & Surveys4 years agoWhy Yahoo Answers keeps losing the hyperlink ability when I go into a question and then back out?
- I get an arrow, but have to refresh the question to get the hand back. Using Firefox via Vista computer.
2 AnswersYahoo Answers5 years agoHow long after a nuclear blast do the other effects take to arrive?
Direct radiation of light, IR that starts to smoke buildings fronts and vaporize people, and hard radiation to poison people gradually all travel at the speed of light. The blast wave than it films blows the roofs off and houses apart moves at the speed of sound in air.
But how fast does the ground shock/rumble like an earthquake travel?
And if a power plant or the high tension wires near them are destroyed at the instant of the flash, is there any time before the electricity, say ten miles away fails. Stated another way, would the lights go out in a protected site go out before the ground rumble reached - relative speed.
Any other "slow" effects that are faster than fallout and radiation sickness?

3 AnswersGoogle6 years agoWhy is this photo upside down?
The photo was taken on an iPhone horizontally with the bottom to the left.
This photo was moved from the iphone to a Windows Vista machine as a JPG by using a USB connection and treating the iPhone as a drive. Once on the Vista, the picture, along with others, was rotated to appear proper when the folder was viewed. However, when the image is collected, it is inverted like it was transferred.
3 AnswersSoftware6 years agoHow to identify the builders and purpose of the bridge across Harry Hines just north of Walnut Hill (photo)?
The bridge is like a large pedestrian bridge and has fencing to keep people from throwing stuff into traffic, but the posts for the unfinished approach ramps are massive enough to take small elephants and there does not seem to be anything in the area to connect across Harry Hines with this expensive solution just west of DART rail station.
1 AnswerDallas6 years agoIs this 4th kind of kerosene space heater (in the detail) still made?
Looking on the internet there are kerosene heaters that are radiant and mostly rectangular, convection and sort of barrel shaped, and forced air with sort of a cannon or jet engine shape. There used to be a space heater that blew the heat down so it immediately spread across the floor. If they are still being made, what is a brand name or URL for a source. Available in USA please.
3 AnswersEngineering7 years agoHas anyone here done 3D printing of sculpture and what is a good 3D computer program most like sculpting?
Reading a book on 3D printing with various materials including the PVC that polymer clay ends up being. 3D printing could be done from 3D scan of hand made clay object, but what is a good program most like clay working? The ones I have tried are a lot like machining (drilling, cutting, pulling/pushing surfaces) or require triangles and nodes.
2 AnswersSculpture7 years agoDoes paint gun paint wash out easily, like the green stuff on my dog?
Tonight I found our yellow Lab dog had bright green powder/paint on her hair in three places on her right rear hip. When I touched it, it was dry powder and only transferred a little to my fingers and when I got a wet wash cloth it came right off on the cloth and rinsed out.
We have nothing I can identify that is this color around here and I am wondering if the dog was shot with a paint gun ball or similar material while my wife took her out in the front yard to "park" her. This is a working guide dog and my wife is blind.
Maybe some game thing where people throw colored powder - certainly not common in Texas.
1 AnswerOther - Games & Recreation7 years agoRecommendations for moldable epoxy putty for sculpture-like work.?
I actually need to mold a new handle for one of my favorite cooking spatulas that got the handle melted off from being left hanging over the next burner.
I have worked with epoxy putty like adhesives which are very sticky (on purpose) and would like suggestions as to brands intended for sculpture like work that have a moderate working time after mixing and form up by hand shaping around the metal handle stem and then stay in place while setting hard and are not sticky, flowing, etc.
3 AnswersSculpture7 years agoDo you hate the new format burying half or more of the categories under MORE>?
I like to answer in 6-8 difference categories and more than half of those are now accessible only by clicking on MORE, and in one case by doing it twice. And the list of subcategories with a dark background is hard to read.
1 AnswerHobbies & Crafts8 years agoWhen did the idea that dead people immediately go to Heaven enter popular Christianity?
I have recently read a couple of Christian oriented popular books where kids refer to their dead mom and dad looking down on them from heaven and adults refer to a widow or widower joining their mate in Heaven, apparently right then "I know she/he is in Heaven now."
Catholic theology requires that all persons who have not rejected God (those go to H-ll) spend time in Purgatory to expiate their sins, and all persons are sinners.
Evangelicals and Pentecostals believe that the Rapture will take up the Elect some time soon and everyone else will suffer the thousand years of End of Times.
So exactly when and from what faith resulted this popular idea of "Now on Earth, Now in Heaven"?
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoDoes KompoZer have any way of following a local link (Anchor, NAME=) while editing?
I have been using FrontPage for years and recently had to switch off it on another computer. In FrontPage following a link is nothing more than holding Ctrl and clicking on the link - in fact a prompt for this comes up when you mouse over a link.
in KompoZer right click on a link reveals "Edit link source in new window" which is fine for getting to the new file, but I have hundreds of internal links on pages where I want to jump down 10 or more screens to get to the text. (and yes, I know that having all kinds of short pages so people don't have to scroll is considered wonderful but it drives me crazy when I have to wait for a new set of ads to load - and I don't have ads on my pages.)
3 AnswersProgramming & Design8 years agoHow can we believe Yahoo Mail will be better when the announcement is flawed?
In the announcement of the new mail
DESIGN is misspelled
Faster email
Cleaner, easier-to-use desgin
Also available on all major mobile devices: iOS, Android and Windows 8
Another stupid Yahoo mistake
And to make life more interesting - the DO NOT REPLY e-mail sent to tell me this was being removed from the Suggestions Board included a link that does not work.
3 AnswersOther - Yahoo Mail8 years agoWhy doesn't GIMP recognize Public under Windows Vista or how to make it do so?
I just started using GIMP after years with Paint Shop Pro and it is enough alike that the differences are really frustrating - like having to export an edited image to get it out as JPG like the original. But the dumbest thing so far is not finding Public on the list of choices for Save or Open - I had to designate a drive letter to point to the folder to get it to show up on the list, which is a nuisance.

2 AnswersPainting8 years agoWhat are names of other movies involving hooking up dates/making out at weddings?
I don't see a lot of movies but "Wedding Crashers" and "Four Weddings and a Funeral" both involved, to some degree, the idea that the group of strangers gathered for a wedding were influenced by the romance and sex of the coupling of the bride and groom to make hooking up easier.
For a story, I would like at least a couple of more that I can look up/rent to pick the best examples to mention in the context of the story.
1 AnswerMovies8 years agoHas Geography or Y!A gone completely berserk?
More than half the questions in Geography have nothing to do with Geography - bath tub ring? leaning ladders? Is Y!A coming up with worthless categories or are the people in geography failing to shoot down trolls?

4 AnswersGeography9 years agoWhat causes this HTTP table to change spacing?
On this page http://www.acbtexas.org/2012conference/2012%20conf... scrolling down one screen there is a table with links to presenter biographical data. The 4 entries are basically identical and in FrontPage they show equal spacing. But in Firefox and Internet Explorer, the first two names are close together (single spaced) the third is about double spaced and the fourth about triple spaced.
