  • anyone here own a ebookwise 1150 reader? I need a new usb cable for it.?

I want to buy a new usb cable for it however I am having problems locating one. Anyone know the exact type of cable the device uses and/or where the cable can be purchased from?

I would also like to know if anyone knows of any way for the device to connect to their service over a digital phone line which is what most people have nowadays. The device manual says it can only use an analog phone line.

  • I have a 2004 volkswagen passatt tdi. How do you change the bulbs in the front headlights?

I cannot seem to see how do you take the assembly out of its socket to change a bulb. On some cars I saw it's an easy thing such as turning off a clamp or pulling a ball socket out of a joint. On this car I can't seem to figure it out.

    Any help is appreciated.

  • How much labor time for front and rear struts if using a complete bolt in bolt out strut assembly?

The car is a 02 Malibu.

Using the old springs and just new struts a shop quoted about 35-45 minutes per each strut. Is there a book time for changing the complete strut assembly? All shops in my area go by book time only and would likely try to charge me the same price as if it would be a strut assembly by itself.

  • please help me find this auto part?

chevrolet tracker zr2 2004 model year is the car

The part is on the back door its the black bezel that is a one piece going up from below the license plate all the way up to go over the door handle and the license plate bulb in a small overhang below the door.

The below the door overhang part snapped in pieces. I was at the dealership and after a long time of going through their parts service with the parts employees we were unable to find the part in the catalog. Does it come as an assembly as part of the door itself? If not, how expensive is it? Where can I find it? Is it easy to replace:)?

    Any information would be helpful.

  • pricing a new chevrolet?

I'm trying to understand the pricing here for the 09 cobalt model

    http://www.fairbankschevy.com/index.cfm?action=dea...

Correct me if I am wrong does this say the following:

From the 15500 base price you can take off 1500 cash back AND 1500 cobalt consumer rebate AND obtain 2.9% APR for 60 months(if you qualify on credit?).

If that's the case as I own a previous GM car and they have a $1000 loyalty bonus I would pay $15500-1500-1500-1000=$11500 on a brand new vehicle?

I would also like to mention this vehicle almost always misfires in P0301 while idling. I think I may have a bad sensor? I don't know how to interpret data though. I live in Alaska, outside temperature right now -35F.

This is not a : spark plug, spark plug wire, ignition coil, fuel pump issue.

  • used car buying recommendation?

I live in a city where labor rates are at about $135/hour for auto shops and car parts are marked up 150%+ from base.

I make around $20,000 per year and would like to own a car regardless of make or model year.

As a sensible number I believe I can spend 5000-5500 per year on the expense of owning a car. This would include any and all expenses related to car ownership. I would also like to mention I only drive about 6000 miles per year.

My first car that I owned and still do is an 02 chevy malibu which even though cheap to acquire/insure and so on is somewhat unreliable after 80,000. Maintenance repairs for this year alone cost me more than 60% of my yearly allowance for a car.

I am currently thinking of perhaps buying a 05-07 ford taurus with 30-45000 miles at a 8-9000$ price range. In a related question I have been told to stay away from these cars as well and buy a honda accord. A honda accord however in the same age range and mileage is 17-18000$.

What are your ideas of a car I could own?

    7 AnswersBuying & Selling1 decade ago
  • is it reasonable to assume the following:?

That if you buy a car you can make it past 100,000 miles without no more than one prefferably none of the following occuring: intake manifolds leaking, fuel pump failure, head gasket failure, engine failure, timing chain failure, automatic transmission failure, major electrical failure, ac system complete failure, heating system complete failure.

I have a 02 malibu and before 100,000 miles it may have experienced 6 of these above situations and very costly repairs.

  • i'm thinking on buying a ford taurus 05-07 model ?

    30-45000 miles $8000-9500 price range.

I have a 02 malibu bought for $1500 with 80000 miles. after another $3000 miles in repairs turns out I might need to replace one or all of the following: injectors, fuel pump, head gasket, both intake manifolds, ignition coils.($$$$$$).

I would like to own a car that I can average at most $3500/year in combined car payments and repairs. My main needs besides cost are for the car to be midsize or fullsize sedan, at least ok handling on ice, at least semi reliable. I only drive about 6000 miles per year.

Would a taurus be a good idea for me? or should I buy something else? Any ideas?

  • fuel pump/fuel pressure issue?

I have a car that has had some problems starting. Its a 02 chevy malibu. I had so far various ideas ranging from spark plugs to a bad fuel pump as reasons why the pump does not start. The car's known "failure" at the moment is a AC compressor that is burnt so the relay for the Ac compressor has been taken out of the circuit and I don't use the defogger on the car anymore.

What I have noticed is that in the winter time, car runs rough when the tank is below half full. If I fill up it immediately goes away. Sometimes the car does not start but will start if its put in the garage for 5-10 minutes. I thought it was bad spark plugs, or water in fuel(I live in Alaska). Got new spark plugs(OEM), new wires, and I am adding isoheet to fuel.

I also thought it might be a fuel pump issue. Had an autoshop start the vehicle cold at about -20F, tested the fuel line pressure and everything turned out ok. This was on 1/2 a tank full or so at the time.

I also thought I might have an winterization problem with a heater. Had that checked, everything on that checked out ok as well.

I also thought since the engine has 83000 miles, it might need a higher octane not to run rough so I switched to 90 from 87.

I also thought that it might be a battery or a starter issue. Battery is cranking at almost 700CCA which is 90%+ of rated specs. I changed the battery 7 months ago. I had a starting diagnosis and the starter checked out fine.

I had the injectors checked for leakage as well. Injectors, even though they are kinda old are still ok as well.

I also thought it might be my engine oil so I use now Mobile 1 synthetic rated to run at -50F.

The last time the vehicle did not start and I had to have it towed in,(after trying to start it 7-8 times) the repair shop said battery was low, they charged it, and it immediately started. I did have somebody jump me at home with a gmc sierra, for over 15 minutes, but that didnt do anything and I had been unable to start it.

Any ideas on what might be causing my no start issues?
