  • What is your greatest pet peeve with OTHER dog owners?

Just curious how many of you feel the same way I do. Can you list them in order of annoyance, and possibly give an example?

My number one ....people who let their dog run up in your dog's face as they are asking, "Is your dog friendly". C'mon people..can't you ask from a few feet away and then wait for the OK!!??

Number two....people who don't pick up their dog's poop! Especially when we discreetly sneak into a dog restricted area to let the dog's have some fun...Don't people realize they could ruin it for everyone!?

Okay, I have let off some steam....how about you?

  • Will I need to catheterize my dog?

Okay, just joking...however there is a nor'easter pounding outside today and there will be NO letup ALL day long. My dog will probably go into renal failure due to his refusal to step outside the door. If I drag him outside, he will not budge...and will stand there shaking and staring up at me with those sad hound eyes. We can both get soaked, and he will just stand. And shake.

He hates his raincoat. Of course, he associates it with rain (and the possibility of thunder), and runs and hides if he sees me take it out. There is a slim chance that at 2 pm today, I might get him to pee in the side yard. Sigh.

So here's the legit question..or questions actually.

First...how do you get your dog out in a storm like this...how long does it take him to do his thing?

Second...with the chance of exercise out of the equation what do you do with him for exercise or play?

  • Stories, please? Does anyone have a story or observation or how your dog dealt with YOUR grief?

One night I heard of a death in my family. Of course I was upset and cried. My usually independent dog became very clingy and would not let me out of his sight. The other one went under the table and would not come out. I understand they are most likely reacting to a change in my energy...but I was curious...anyone care to share a story about what your dog did when you were sad/emotional/upset?

  • Kingston Cavaliers..anyone have any information?

Can anyone tell me if they have heard of these people, or had any dealings with them? They are selling puppies over the internet and I am trying to do some research into whether they are a reputable place, backyard breeder or puppy mill. Their address is in Kingston, North Carolina. Thanks

  • I would like some feedback from others who may have had a problem with older dog/younger dog fighting?

I have a 16 year old 15 pound jackrussell/dachshund mix . I inherited her 3 years ago, just after I adopted what is now my 3 year old M pit hound mix...50 pounds. I never had a problem with them getting along before but now she is mostly blind, somewhat deaf and probably a bit senile as welll. She paces a lot. Anyway, she has always been a bit crazy. She does not like children and used to boss the pit around. I am a Cesar fan and I handled it fine...its just that she can't be handled anymore. She doesn't see or hear. She charges the pit...but doesn't bite..just gets that domination thing going. He has started to react to her. He will pull back and growl, she just comes in for more. This only happens when I am in the room...it may be tied to getting close to me. Well, yesterday she got in his face and he took her down. He did not bite her, he just pinned her..but he was growling andit sounded awful. She did not yelp, she was not hurt, she was mad. I grabbed him and put him in a down. Picked her up and checked her out and then stood over him holding her until he relaxed.. I may have an option to send her to my daughter's a few blocks away. She is familiar with being there and would not freak out. Do you think I need to rehome her? Would you have handled it differently, and do you have any suggestions? Thanks
