  • Should a Knock-On have been called?

In the second half of the Knights v Dragons match, a Knights player was called for a knock-on during a hit-up because the ball came loose. When both players fell to the ground, the ball never touched the ground and was still in possession of the Knight's ball carrier. If the ball carrier never lost possession of the ball, how could a knock-on be called?

  • What Aussie or Kiwi beer would you recommend. . .?

The 2011 NRL season is approaching and I am looking for recommendations for the most appropriate Australian and/or New Zealand beers to imbibe whilst watching footy. I live in the midwestern part of the America and have access to a fairly good liquor store which stocks many imported beers.

So, let's have a go at it and see what you all come up with - Cheers mates!

PS. If you want to, tell me which beer best represents your footy club!

  • Have teams 1 thru 3 ever lost the first round of the NRL Finals?

Since the Panthers and Tigers have lost their first round games, I was wondering if, under the current Finals system, teams seated 1 through 3 have ever lost their first round matches to teams 6, 7 and 8?

  • Why do we have to have the 5 previous questions asking the same thing?

Within 5 hours time, we have had 5 questions in a row asking essentially the same thing, about watching online streaming of NRL games. Can't anyone read the answers to the other questions?

  • What are your thoughts on the Storm being as much as $3.2 mil over salary Cap?

Fox Sports and other media are reporting that the Deloitte investigation report may show that the Storm may have been way over the salary cap. Initially reported as $1.7 million, the overage may be as high as $3.2 million.

    Questions to ponder:

    1. If true, how does Melbourne or any club recover from this; or do they?

    2. Where has the oversight both at the club level and league level been for the past 5 years?

    3. How could News Limited not know what was going on at the Storm?

    4. How deep does the cover-up go? Were some of the players (over paid) and/or the players' managers complicit with the Storm?

    5. Melbourne Chairman, Peter Moodie, does not believe the Deloitte investigation and report to be independent because it was requested by News Limited. What do you think?

I am sure there are other question that could come up in regards to the salary cap breach, but I these questions should get the discussion going.

  • Is Taniela Tuiaki's NRL career over?

According to a Fox Sports, the Tigers and other rival clubs are reluctant to sign Taniela to a contract because his broken ankle is not mending correctly.

I sincerely hope this is not the case because of all the talent that would be wasted. From what I have read about Taniela, he is an outstanding young man and teammate.

  • NRL Fans, where are you from?

I've been wondering, for sometime, where the people on the NRL section live? If you don't mind, please mention the country (since all of us don't live in Australia :-), state and if you are native born to that country.

I am American born and have lived most of my life in the Midwestern part of the US. Have been a resident of Wisconsin for over 30 years. Got introduced to the NRL on a vacation to Australia in 2005. Have only seen one match in person (Roosters v Tigers, Rd 4, 2005) and have been hooked on League ever since. As I have said before, I get up at 3:00 or 4:00 AM to watch most of the Tigers games being streamed online and also subscribe to several Rugby League online forums.

The Rugby League section of Y/A has been a great place for me to learn more about what is happening in the League. Great questions and answers (for the most part - and I think you know what I mean) and I am very happy to be a small part of it.

I hope this section continues to flourish.

  • Has Benji finally hit his stride?

A good nite for Benji for try conversions; only missed one. Has he finally gotten rhythm down for his kicks?

  • What about Marshall as the Tigers field goal/conversion kicker? How can the Tigers improve in that area?

Benji is struggling with conversions and field goals from wide or near the touchline. Is it a matter of concentration, form or do the Tigers need to look at another option? Since the Tigers score a lot of their points on the wings, I fear that valuable points are going to be missed until the the conversion rate is raised. With the number of close matches the Tigers have played in the past few years, the team can't afford to leave those points on the field.
