I am a retired disabled Navy Vet. I lost my hearing in 1995 when I was only 20! My SUV went off of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel. I had drowned, have been through 15 operations, spent a year and a half in a wheelchair, and almost died from Meningitis! (The Drs. gave me a 20% survival rate, and advised my mom to start making funeral arrangements! I had a 105 degree fever for 4 weeks!) YES! I have a tattoo! I was a Search and Rescue Swimmer (Hence, my user name!) aboard the USS Enterprise. I also have a Cochlear Hearing Implant since 1997. Unfortunately, because there was such damage to my ear, everyone sounds like the adults in the "Charlie Brown" cartoon: "Waa-wa-wah." So instead of playing my trumpet, I got back into the local community band in the percussion section! I have gone back to college, and am a Certified Internet Specialist from Marist College. I am in my third year of teaching basic computer skills to grades 2-8. I am very happily married!
