  • Bluediamond: Isaac was the second son, read the Bible.?

You keep copying/pasting the same thing, don't have IM/Email available, and so I decided to address you via this rather than submitting a rebuttal in each forum you have provided the same answer.

Ishmael was the first son, Isaac was the second. In Genesis 16, we read how Sarah had not begotten Abraham any children and so she offered her maidservant as a wife to Abraham. Hagar's son was to be called Ishmael and the child was born when Abraham was 86, according to Genesis 16. In Genesis 17:15, Jehovah tells Abraham that Sarah will be blessed with a son. Abraham is joyful, but curious as to how a man a hundred years old will have a child.

Some verses later in 17:23, Abraham takes Ishmael with a host of other men and has them circumcised, as per God's Covenant. This is just after God has spoken to him, long before Isaac's birth. In verse 25, it says that Ishmael was 13 years old, again, before Isaac had been born.

  • What does it mean when Allah starts an ayat saying "Oh children of Adam"?

Is He referring to all people of all time or just up until Muhammad?
