  • Why can I not fully install the Blackberry Desktop Manager software?

I downloaded it (7.1 version) for my PC from the correct place. Every time (I've made several attempts) I try to install it, however, the installation pauses some way through and gives me an error code (1935) and message, which is as follows:

Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly component

    {98CB24AD-52FB-DB5F-A01F-C8B3B9A1E18E}.

    HRESULT: 0X800736B3

How can overcome this error and fully install the software?

  • How do I apply to an Australian university from the UK?

I'm currently studying my first year of A-Levels in the UK and I hope, next year, to apply to a university in Australia (as well as universities here in the UK). What is the process for applying to an Australian university? Would I be able to apply with just A-Levels, or would I have to sit some extra examinations?

For example, I looked at the entry requirements for a course at the University of Western Australia, and couldn't find the requirements that fit with A-Levels. It simply says those applying based on other qualifications would need to demonstrate knowledge equivalent to the subjects specified. I'm not sure how this would work.

  • Where have I heard this riff before?

I was messing around on my guitar the other day and this riff 'came out', for want of a better phrase. It struck me as something that I recognised (possibly from a Weller/The Jam song, it has that kind of new wave-y sound to it), but I couldn't think where I'd heard it before. I asked a few people, and they had no idea, but also recognised it. I've recorded it and uploaded it to youtube for your help in possibly telling me where it is from. Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_fiH-ClL9c&feature...

PS. It may not be the actual riff (could be in a different key, there may be too many chords, it may not be played using power chords, etc.) but that is the general riff. Please don't suggest a riff that is similar but too different to be the one I'm talking about.

Thank you very much in advance, I hope you can help :)

  • What would you say is the colour of this Telecaster?

It looks like it might be a Vintage Cream, or thereabouts, but then in other shots it looks a bit more yellow.

That is a screenshot from the video containing the Tele.

That is a link to the video itself. I really like the telecaster, I'd like to know what colour that model is.

    Thanks very much.

  • Is it illegal to carry a replica firearm in the UK?

I'm planning on shooting some scenes for a film I am making in public places (namely a street outside a shop). In the scene, it's quite important for a replica gun to be seen, and to be used as a prop. I will be hiring the gun from a film prop company, so it is likely to look, at first and probably fifth glance, quite real. Therefore, I'm unsure whether carrying it and having it on the actor's person while filming will be entirely legal. I'd just like to check first.

    Thanks very much.

PS. Some kind of evidence to your answer would be very helpful.

  • In the UK, do I need any kind of permission to film in a public place?

I'm planning on shooting some scenes, for a film I am making, in public places (scenes of people walking down a street, some of people driving in a street, etc.). I'm wondering if I will need any kind of permission from my local council or maybe from people who might happen to walk past? This is my first film, and is going to be produced on an extremely tight, and low, budget. Therefore, if I need to pay for any kind of license to do this, I definitely need to know asap, to plan for such expenditure and add this information to my budgeting.

    Thank you very much.

PS. Some kind of evidence would be very helpful.

  • Could anyone tell me the origins of these 'iconic' photos?

I saw a post on Facebook about iconic black and white photographs that had had colour added to them. I feel slightly embarrassed to say that there were a few I didn't recognise.

The picture can be found here: http://wheresmysammich.com/images/31828.jpg

The ones in question are: 7+8, 13+14, 17+19, 21+22, 23+24 and 25+26 (numbers in their pairs of black and white (eg. 7) and in colour (eg. 8))

Could anyone tell me the origins of any or (hopefully) all of these?

  • My Samsung Galaxy Europa won't send any texts containing Spanish?

Why is this? I'll be sending messages in English, they'll be sent pretty quickly after I press 'Send'. The second I try to send a text containing any Spanish at all, the text says 'Sending...' for longer than normal (even with full signal) and then doesn't send and pops up with 'Message not sent'. No matter how many times I try to re-send the text, it doesn't. I'll then switch back to English and the message sends straight away, as before. Why is this? It makes no sense. How can I stop it from happening?

PS. I'm on the 3 network.

  • What prime lens would be best for filming?

I'm thinking of getting the Canon T2i for use as a film-making tool. I have been advised to get a prime lens to use with it, but no mention was given to which prime lens (in terms of focal length).

Which focal length would be best to use for film-making?

Thanks very much for your time.

  • Best places to source volunteer actors in the U.K.?

I'm looking to get started on one of my first serious film projects, with a below-shoestring budget. I will therefore need actors willing to work for food and experience. I don't need acting greats, but I'd like a certain degree of ability. What sort of places should I be looking?

    Thanks in advance.

  • What is the best camcorder for under £200?

    Or £300?

I'm interested in making films, and hope to study film-making post-Sixth Form. As a film student, I will most definitely need a better, and therefore more expensive, camcorder with which to shoot films. Right now though, I just need a good (not great) camcorder that I can get started with and start making films with. The quality doesn't have to be top-notch, but I'd still like a fairly good level of quality. Things that are important are HD recording, at least half-decent audio and the ability to tripod-mount (ruling out some of the 'pistol-grip' styled camcorders).

I've looked at the Panasonic HDC-SD900, as it is great for what I'm looking for, but the price is just outside of my budget at around £400 used. I would be willing to buy Used, as long as the camcorder is not damaged or anything like that. If there is a similar camcorder, possibly slightly less 'brilliant', that is within my budget?

    Thanks so much in advance.

  • How do you make this noise on guitar?

At the start of, for example, Wild Thing by The Troggs, or I Wanna Be Your Dog by The Stooges (after the few power chords, and before the main riff starts), there's a noise made on the guitar. I don't really know how to describe it, sort of a ringing noise. You can hear it here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJIqnXTqg8I

    at 0:10 seconds.

How do you make that noise on the guitar? And what is it called?

  • How do I wash this jacket?

I have a blazer from H&M. I accidentally left it out in the rain, and now it smells really bad. There are no stains, but I need to clean it asap.

It has two parts, 'lining' and 'outer shell'.

    The lining is 100% polyester.

The outer shell is a blend: 14% wool, 34% cotton and 52% linen.

The symbols on the label are these:

    http://i656.photobucket.com/albums/uu290/hazuinf/l...

Except that the 'ironing' symbol is an iron with two dots (which I am given to understand means iron at a medium heat).

As far as I know, that first symbol means 'do not wash', at least not at home (the last symbol meaning it can be dry cleaned). I have no access to a dry cleaners, and need to wash it at home. How would I go about doing that?

    Long story short:

How do I wash at home a garment that I'm supposed to dry clean professionally, and 'not wash' at home?

  • Is there any way to play a synth part on the guitar?

The band I'm wants to cover A-Punk by Vampire Weekend, but we only have two guitarists, a bassist and a drummer, and the song needs one guitarist, one synth player, a bassist and a drummer.

I was wondering if there's any way the synth part could be played on the guitar. Is that possible? If so, where might I find the music for the synth part in order to transpose it?
