  • Electric Potential question?

    A positive charge +q is located at the point x = 0, y = -a, and a negative charge -q is located at the point x = 0, y = +a.

    (a) Derive an expression for the potential V at points on the y-axis as a function of the coordinate y. Take V to be zero at an infinite distance from the charges.

    (b) Graph V at points on the y-axis as a function of y over the range from y = -4a to y = +4a.

    (c) Show that for y > a, the potential at a point on the positive y-axis is given by V = -(1/4πε₀)2qa/(y^2)

    (d) What are the answers to parts (a) and (c) if the two charges are interchanged so that +q is at y = +a and -q is at y = -a?

I mainly need help with parts (a), (c), and (d).

  • How to correct my pool levels?

I asked this in another category but I don't know if it's the right one...so here it is again:

I have a ~5500 gal above ground pool. I have been using a saltwater system instead of chlorine. The alkalinity is very high, and this creates scales on the saltwater system that prevent it from working. I can get the scales off by soaking it in vinegar, but I would have to do this every 3-4 days. I have tried adding pH-minus to decrease the alkalinity, but so far I haven't had any noticeable changes other than the pH going down slowly. I tested the hose water (which is what I filled it up with) and the alkalinity is also very high for it.

I would really appreciate it if anybody could give me some steps to correcting the alkalinity and the pH levels.

  • how to get past restrictions passcode on iPod touch?

My dad set the restrictions on my iPod so I can't browse the internet, or get apps rated 17+. This really sucks, so is there any way I can get rid of this? I do not want to lose my data. I can't find a way besides resetting completely, which would lose my data. I have looked other places and found that if I reset and then restored from backup, (to get my data) the passcode would still be set.

If you can give me any kind of information, that would be great.

  • Nike cleats comparison?

I am looking at getting the "Nike T90 Laser IV" Men's FG Soccer Cleat. I found another one that is also "Nike T90 Laser IV" Men's KL FG Soccer Cleat. (notice the "KL") It looks to me as if the "KL" one is just made with synthetic leather instead, and is maybe lighter. They're both the same price, and the same design, but with different colors. The "KL" has some half sizes that would be better for me.

Is there any difference between these beside the material it's made with? Is there any benefit to having one over the other?

If you could compare these in any other way too that would be great.

    Thanks in advance.

  • What headphones should I get?

I got a $15 dollar amazon gift card for Christmas, and I am finally getting around to using it. I decided to buy a pair of over-ear headphones, but I can't decide. Here are my requirements:

    Durable

$15 dollars or less (slightly over is ok)

    New

Stylish (at least not weird looking)

    Good sound quality

    Comfortable

Here are 5 headphones that I have looked at, but can't decide on:

    http://www.amazon.com/Coby-Folding-Stereo-Headphon...

    http://www.amazon.com/Coby-CV215BLK-Stereo-Headpho...

    http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HARX300-Full-Size-Headph...

    http://www.amazon.com/JVC-hav570-HA-V570-Supra-Aur...

    http://www.amazon.com/Inland-87050-Dynamic-Headpho...

I hope you can view those OK.

Some of them have a lot of reviews saying they break easily, or aren't comfortable. Those are my main two concerns.

If you have any other information about these, please let me know. Also if you could look at these and tell me which one you think is best for me, please post a reply. Basically I just need help deciding.

  • Earbuds with iPod touch not working right?

I asked this question a couple of days ago and there haven't been any answers so I'm going to post it again:

I have an iPod touch 4th gen. I have had it for a couple of months, but I have the apple headphones that I've had for more than a year. For some reason, it's only working in the right earbud. The left one is really quiet, to the point I can't hear it unless I really try. I have tried a couple of different earbuds, and one other pair has the same problem, and two others worked fine. (including one really cheap pair) I have checked the options on my iPod, and everything is fine. I looked under accessibility, where i adjusted the balance, and the mono-audio setting. I went to music settings, and I couldn't find anything there either.

So my question is, first of all, how can I fix this? Is this a problem with the wrong kind of earbuds, or something with the iPod? And second, how can I fix it?

I would also like to add now that when I have it set to mono audio, if I put it all the way to the left, the right is still much louder. If mono audio is off, and I slide it all the way to the left, I hear it only out of the left one, but not very loud.

Please help, I really don't want to have two good pairs of earbuds wasted.

  • My computer/monitor won't work?

I have a very old desktop that is custom made. It worked fine until I moved it up to my room, and in doing so, disconnected various cables and stuff. When I reconnected everything, the monitor wouldn't turn on. When I had the cable disconnected, it would say that. When it was connected, it would go to sleep mode. This would happen even when I had just turned my computer on. (and so it was obviously not sleeping) I tried a different monitor that I knew worked, and it did the same thing. I took out the cd and floppy drive (yes, it is that old) since I really didn't need them and it might be getting in the way. So is there any way to fix this? Is it probably a problem with the video card or something from the computer?

  • What is the molarity of this substance?

I have a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide. It says it's 3% H2O2. I don't know if this means volume, or something else. I weighed it, and 1mL is approximately 1g. I can't figure out what the molarity of this would be. Is there some other information I would need to know in order to figure this out? Please show your work.

  • Gamecenter on iPod touch?

I had a 8gb 4g iPod touch, and I wanted to get a 32gb. I sold my old one to my sister, and I bought a new one. We share the same iTunes account, so it's easy to share music and apps and stuff. Gamecenter is tied in with your Apple ID/itunes account, so is there a way to still share the same account for music and stuff, but have different accounts on Gamecenter?

    I hope this makes sense.

  • how to transfer app data?

I have an iPod touch 4g 8gb and I'm planning on getting a 32gb. I would really like to keep all my saved games and everything, so is there a way I can transfer them from my old one to my new one? If there is a way to do this with iTunes that would be preferred. I have tried to do some stuff with iPhone explorer but it didn't work very well. So is there a way to do this? I do have all my music, videos, and the apps themselves backed up on iTunes.

  • How can i get this song?

I'm trying to download RealFactions's Clearing the Skies. iTunes doesn't have it, and neither does amazon. I don't know where else to get it. I couldn't find a spot where I could get it for free, so I was wondering if I could somehow record it playing on the computer? (because it's on YouTube) I don't want it to be poor quality though. Or, is there another site that has it where I can buy it?

  • iPod touch battery life?

Ok so I have an ipod touch 4g and I've heard that with laptops and ipods and stuff that if you keep charging it when it has a partial battery and stuff that it kills the battery. Also, it's best just to let it die every time and then charge it again.

Has anyone else heard of this? Is this true? If it is, then how do you prolong your battery life?

  • How do you post replies to your own question?

Is there a way I could ask a question and then when someone replies, reply again to answer some of their questions? I know you can add more details, but I think you can post a reply.

  • how to sync calendars on ipod touch with windows 7?

I have an ipod touch 4g and i was wondering how I can sync the calendar on it to my Windows 7 computer. I see the "sync calendars" option in iTunes, but it says, "No supported calendar application can be found." On apple's website, it said that Outlook should work, but I cannot find a download that will work on Windows 7.

Is there an easy way I can resolve this, preferrably without spending any money?
