  • Can my partner enter UK with a marriage visitor visa?

My partner is from a country listed on the red list of countries. However, she will spend a total of 15 days on a NON RED LIST COUNTRY prior to coming to the UK to visit a close relative.

She is currently on a marriage visitor visa.

After spending 15 days on a non red list country, she plans to come here to the UK. My question is, will she be allowed entry to the UK with only a marriage visitor visa? I would like to believe that she will be allowed entry because she hasn't technically been in a red list country for a matter of 10 days.

  • Need help with a flight to the Philippines on the 1st of March?

I am a Filipino nurse that has been working in the UK for more than a year now. My annual leave to visit the Philippines has been pushed back many times because of this pandemic. Some friends have booked a flight to the Philippines in March and have convinced me to do the same.

I am now booked a flight with Qatar Airways on the 1st of March. But I do have some concerns about my check-in though.Does Qatar Airways require a negative RT-PCR test prior to departure in order to check-in? Will they check if I have a negative result? I can always get a test done but I'd like to ask around first especially that they do the test 72 hours prior to the actual flight and I have to go there by train and come back home.I have read on their FAQs that they do need a negative RT-PCR result for specific countries, but not in the UK. But I want to be sure as the information is easily updated. It's such a hassle but I am willing to do it. I just want to make sure that though, otherwise, it would be a waste of time and money to have the test done only to find out during check-in that they don't require it.If anyone has traveled these past few days, will travel, or know someone who will travel, can someone please answer my question? I would greatly appreciate it.I have tried calling QAs customer service and it's always busy. I've been on the line for literally more than 3 hours and no one answered.Thank you for your help.

  • Just broke up with someone - how long before I start over?

I just broke up with my girlfriend of 4 years a week ago. I saw it coming that's why it's easier for me to accept that she's gone.

I've started to message people whom I left while I was in a relationship. I connected with old friends - made new ones, and in the process, I got to befriend an old college acquaintance.

She was always known for her beauty back then. 10 years ago, I was fat and my face was full of pimples. Now, I have a six-pack and my confidence is sky high -- but not to the extent of being a douche. I am a nurse after all and my elderly patients love me because of how caring I am.

Anyway, we started to chat via Facebook and found out that she's single. She replies to my messages even though my face was just a faint memory.

I just want to know if it's too soon to ask her out. If it isn't, any advice as to how to subtly let her know that I'm attracted to her? Would this move disrespect my very recent breakup? Any bros out there?

  • Filipino. Where to look for a job as a live-in caregiver in the UK?

I am a Filipino and will soon be working as a nurse in the UK. I hope that when I become stable, I want that my girlfriend can also join me there. She's a nursing graduate and has experience in implantable medical devices as well as having been employed in a diagnostic clinic. We discussed that a viable employment could be a live-in caregiver job.

My question is, does the UK accept directly hired individuals from our country as live in caregivers? Also, I want to know where and how to apply for these live-in caregiver jobs so that I can help my GF land a job in the UK.

We've checked some job websites in the UK but none seem to reply. If someone can point us in the right direction or at least give us some information in order for us to get from level 0 to level 1 that would be greatly appreciated.

  • Safety Officer Job Certifications?

    Hi everyone,

I am a certified Health Safety and Environment Officer currently based here in the Philippines. I have 2 years local experience and I am certified in H2S, BLS, Rig Safety, etc. I am also OSHA certified as well as being a Registered Safety Officer at the same time.

I want to work in anywhere in Australia, New Zealand, Canada or in the US and wanted to ask about the requirements needed to get accepted as an HSE Officer on the countries I've mentioned above.

I fully understand that there are certifications needed based on the country of my choosing, so I want to ask what these certifications are and where to get them. An if whether or not these certifications can be obtained online.

Also, can anyone suggest what websites to visit in applying for an HSE Officer position on any of the countries I've mentioned above?

    Thank you.

  • How to make the bass sound of a 6-string guitar sound more "bass-like" in Audacity?

Hi there, I'm doing some recording from my acoustic guitar inside my room. It's just a simple setup, nothing fancy and all that. All I have right now is a laptop, samson go mic, a good acoustic guitar, and a lot of audio editing programs.

Just to give you all an idea on what I'm trying to do, I'm doing a one-man acoustic band using my guitar as percussions, guitar rhythm, lead guitars, and bass.

I just have an issue though. When I try to record the bass part of the song, it only gives me a guitar-sounding bass not an actual bass sound. Now of course I know that is expected from a 6 string guitar, so I was planning to tweak the sound using the programs I have - specifically Audacity.

I know full well that a regular guitar cannot replace the sound of an actual bass guitar. But I just want to know if you can at least tweak the equalizer in audacity to make the bass sound I recorded to be more, err... "bass-like" so to speak.

If you know how to adjust the equalizer settings on audacity or even know an auxillary program that can emulate a bass guitar, then please do post your answer below.

Just don't ask me to use this, or install a highly-priced mic, or soundproof my room or whatnot. Trust me, I don't have the time, resources, or the money to do those things.

    Thanks everyone.

  • Trying to record an instrumental song in audacity, are there any good FREE plugins for that?

I'm recording an instrumental song right now and I'm just gonna use Audacity. I just wanna know if there are certain settings inside the program itself that I can make changes to so that the recording can be as clear and beautiful as possible?

Also, I'd like to know if there are plugins that you all can recommend that I use during recording. FREE plugins to be exact.

I'm just keeping it low budget right now because this just a one-time thing. So these are the only things I have right now (and the only things that I intend to use):

    - Guitar with super low tension strings

    - Laptop

    - Audacity

    - Amplitube 3

    - Samson Gomic

    Thanks!

  • What's the name of the guitar chord that I accidentally found?

Ok, so I tuned my guitar to CGDGBD so that I can practice an instrumental song. So when I was warming up, (and this happened when the guitar was already tuned to CGDGBD) I tried to do some chords with the regular hand formations you'd do when the guitar is in standard tuning like C, D, Dm, Am, F, etc... They sounded kinda weird because again the guitar was tuned to CGDGBD.

But when I tried to do an F#m, it sounded so beautiful that I couldn't forget it. But the problem is, I don't know what's the name of the chord when it's played in standard tuning.

I'm not a guitar expert, so I wanna ask all you professionals out there the name of the mystery chord that I found.

    Thank you.

  • Media player with special functions?

Does anyone know of a media player that:

    A. Plays a video where the player sticks to the screen even if I work on other things. The player shouldn't disappear if I click on another window. It's because I want to watch videos while I work on some projects. I get bored easily.

    B. Plays multiple videos at the same time on several windows.
