I live in New England where the weather is constantly changing. Right now we have a heat wave and my 46 gallon tank is at about 83 degrees F (hotter than me or my fish would like it) even though I only have the heater set to about 77 degrees. I just looked and saw the red light on meaning the heater still thinks it needs to pop on periodically even though the water is much too warm... Is there such thing as a heater that will be accurate when room temperature is 68 or lower and also still be accurate (and shut off) during the summer when room temperature is closer to 80?

I'm going to Shrine at Foxwoods tomorrow and I know the dress code is like any other nice club.. Dress shoes, button down shirt etc. I only have crappy dress shoes but I have the Lebron hyperfuse' that look like this.. http://m.footlocker.com/?uri=product&sku=53641070&...

Is it possible to wear these as long as the rest of my outfit is dressy?

I have a 46 gallon bowfront aquarium and i once had an oscar but it eventually outgrew the tank. I'm now wondering if i could have one green terror or possibly a pair of green terrors(one male and one female). Or maybe one Jack Dempsey. Any other suggestions are welcome as well.

I have a few ideas of what i would like to get. What do you think the best option is out of the following?

1. one albino tiger oscar

2. one or two blood parrot cichlids, 2-4 silver dollars, maybe 2 australian rainbows, and possibly one large goldfish but i don't know how well that will work.

3.Semi agressive tank with silver dollars, tinfoil barbs,... not sure what else

4. smaller cichlids like yellow labs, electric blues..etc

I had an oscar in the tank a while ago and he obviously outgrew the tank eventually. Are there any cichlids that are similar to an oscar but don't get quite as large that i could fit in the tank?

I have a 46 gallon bowfront aquarium and would like to make it a cichlid tank. I have done the whole oscar thing before moving it to a bigger tank and i dont want a fish that grows to be that large. What kind of smaller cichlids maybe 6 inches max that will eat feeder guppies on occasion could i get? And how many?

Can neon tetras, zebra danios, and similar fish live in water that is 70 degrees F? Or even 68 degrees? I know they are tropical fish but how low of temperatures could they live well in?

I know some of these fish get very big so i would only keep the wild ones while they are small. there is currently no fish in the tank and i want to put a predatory fish in there.

I live in RI and i typically fish for bass but always catch some sunfish when using live baits. I have not seen or caught a sunfish yet this season and they are usually abundant. When do the sunfish come out? Is there a certain water temp?

i have 5 goldfish that i bought a week ago. they are small so they are in a 46 gallon tank for now. my problem is the smallest goldfish has been just laying on the rocks in a corner for minutes or even hours at a time. it also will start swimming around and look just fine but it looks like its fins are rotting. what can i do and can the other fish catch it? if so what can i do to make sure they dont?

i have recently set up a goldfish tank and want to put a common pleco in the tank. what is the lowest the temperature could go for a pleco?

i just bought 5 comet goldfish for a 46 gallon tank. i have tropical flakes, freeze dried blood worms, freeze dried shrimp, and brine shrimp. what can i feed them for now? is it necessary to get goldfish flakes?

i have had the same silver dollar in my 40 gallon tank for more two years. he once lived with an oscar and i was told that by seeing the oscar feed on fish he also had learned to eat smaller fish. i bought about 14 neon tetras before i knew this and the silver dollar ate them all. i later bought 6 serpae tetras aka red minor tetras and a ram cichlid(timid version of cichlid). well its been a while since i bought them but they are starting to disappear. now i only have 3 tetras and the ram is gone too. there is no sign of their bodies. could the silver dollar really eat fish of this size?

I am planning on buying a few common goldfish for my 40 gallon tank. I already have 4 serpae tetras aka red minor tetras in the tank. the lowest temp the water should be for the tetras is 72 degrees Farenheit. i know goldfish can live at a variety of temps but prefer colder water. I have read that temps of over 72 can cause problems for goldfish but i have also read that it would be fine. would it be ok to leave the water temp at 72 to accommodate both fish?

i have had a single silver dollar for a long time cuz i moved on to other fish and he was just a trooper. he has lived with an oscar but has also lived with zebra danios and neons before. but i bought 12 neons and today i saw him chasing and biting at one. then i come home like 12 hours later and i have one left? i dont see any bodies. did he eat them?
