  • Investing Ideas for a Newborn?

I am looking to start investing (saving) for my newborn child. I only have about $1000 now, but will be looking to add additional funds each month. I am looking for a long term solution (18+ years), so it can tolerate some risk.

I don't want to be locked down to something specific (like a 529 for college), so what do you think is the best way to go?

    Thanks for your help.

  • Help to wire a light switch?

I have some basic wiring skills, but nothing too advanced.

I am trying to replace a broken light switch in my attic, but i'm not the one who took the broken one out, so I don't know how it was originally connected.

I have 3 black wires, and 3 white wires and this powers my light switch and also an attic fan connected to a thermostat. The fan should have power all the time, while the light works on the single pole switch.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how these wires should be connected?

    Thanks

  • Should I do all the cutting in first?

I am about to paint a bedroom in my house, and I am wondering if I should cut in the whole room first, then roll the whole room or should I cut in a wall then roll it, then cut in and roll the next wall etc.

If I cut in everything first, will I get lines between the rolling and cutting in?

    The room is about 12' x 13'

    Thanks!

  • How do I bleed Coolant?

I have a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix that appears to have air in the coolant, and I want to bleed it. There is a bleeder screw on the engine, but I am not sure on the correct procedure.

Should I open the screw, then run the engine until coolant comes out. Should I let the engine get to normal operating temperature first and then open the screw?

    Any pointers would be appreciated.

  • Broken Bolt in Manifold?

I over tightened a bolt on my manifold and broke it. Now the bottom half is stuck in the lower manifold. I want to try using an easy out, but my challenge is being able to drill a hole in the center of the broken bolt.

When the bolt snapped, it left a pointed top on the broken part, so i'm afraid the drill bit will walk all over the place.

Any ideas on how I can get a good central drill hole? I've tried a punch, but it just flattened the punch point. I was thinking maybe I need to file or grind the bolt to get a flat top and then drill. Any suggestions on how to do this?

    Thanks for your help!

  • How to Replace Fuel Injectors?

I have a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix SE, and it appears that one of my injectors is bad. I want to replace it, and I have the Haynes manual, but it doesn't seem to match up with my model.

As far as I can tell, the fuel rail and injectors are underneath the intake manifold. Does anybody have any experience replacing the fuel injectors on a grand prix? Do i just need to remove the intake manifold?

Also, are the intake manifold gaskets reusable? or will I need to replace it when I change the injectors.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Transmission Filter Stuck, Help!?

Since I had a lot of service to do on my car, I thought I might as well change out the transmission fluid and filter (first mistake).

So I got the pan off and drained the fluid, but when I tried removing the filter it snapped at the tube part that goes in to the engine. Does anyone have any tips on how I can remove it? I have tried pulling it out with pliers, but it wont move. I could probably dig it out with a small screw driver, but don't want to damage anything.

Does anybody have any advice or tips (besides take it to a professional next time)

It is a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix. Thanks!

  • Catch Bass/Crappie to eat?

I have been fishing for a little while, but normally do catch and release. If I wanted to keep a few to eat, what is the best way to do it?

Should I keep them on a stringer, then throw them in a cooler at the end of the day? Should I kill them or drain them first?

Any tips on what I need to do to get them from the lake to the plate would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • I want to start Salt Water Pier fishing. Help!?

I have done a little fresh water fishing, but now I want to try some Salt Water fishing from a pier. Can somebody point me in the right direction on what equipment I will need?

I live in Virginia, and I am looking to catch Spot and Croaker. I have a 6' 6'' fresh water pole with Medium Heavy action, that I may be able to use by adding a salt water reel.

So whatever info you can provide (rod, reel, bait etc) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • I am trying to think of some good girl names for my baby?

My wife still has several months to go, but we would like some suggestions for possible girl names. I don't mind if it's somewhat unique or different, but nothing too extreme. Thanks for your help.

  • Can I fish for Bass off a pier?

I just started fishing, and had a question on fresh water pier fishing. When I go with my friend, we rent a Jon Boat and fish all over the lake. But if I just want to fish for a couple of hours in the morning, or go by myself, I don't want to spend the money on a boat and motor etc.

So, am I going to get as many strikes fishing from a pier, and do I need to change up my bait and fishing style?

    Thanks for your help.

  • My car takes a long time to start after air filter and brake pad change

I just changed out my brake pads and air filter, and now my car is acting really weird when I try and start it.

It barely turns over for about 10 seconds (sounds like a dead battery at first), then it starts turning over (it does this for about 5 seconds) and then eventually it starts. Once it's started, everything seems to run as normal.

It was starting just fine yesterday. COuld I have damaged something that would have caused this while changing brake pads or the air filter?

    Thanks for your help.
