  • How to generate Visual Basic Object with keystroke?

I am creating a 2-d shooter mini game in a project of mine. I have a character whom I want when the player presses the spacebar to fire a bullet at some enemies. I plan to create all of the characters and objects with picture boxes.

What I need to know is, what is the code for the game to create a "bullet picture box" when I press the space bar?

  • "Universal" if statment. Visual Basic 2008 express question?

I am a first year programming student in high school. Currently, we have a project in which we create a program that can do anything we want, just has to be "big" enough, in C++ or Visual Basic.

Now I am creating a text-based adventure game. I programmed an inventory system in the game by using flags. For example, if the player picks up a pencil, it turns on the "pencilflag," allowing the person to use the pencil, as long as the flag is on. I programmed the flags in a module file, allowing the program to access them regardless of what form it is on.

My question is, is it possible to do the same thing with if statements? I have some commands that are typed in that can be done almost anywhere in the game, and I don't want to have to type them in for every form. For example, I'll have a command read something like this

    if txtDo.text = "command" then messageBox.show("response")

What would be the method and code to having this be a "universal if statement" if it is possible? Thank you!

  • considering going to mac. questions...?

I used to use the old Macs when I was little, (these were the early to mid 90s models) but started over to PCs when I got to my preteen years. Up until recently, I always regarded Macs as a system with untapped potential, but at the same time, nothing but designer computers or computers for those in graphics design.

After hearing my Cross Country coach talk about the things you can do with a mac, and having a go on my uncle's Imac, I'm considering getting an IMac of my own for when I go off to college. However, on my current machine, I like to game (MW2, L4D2, COD4) as well as do my school work. Macs seem like a good option because of their stability, bootcamp, ease of use, (and their sexy looks ) but after doing a bit of research, I'm left with some questions.

First off, I've always heard that even with bootcamp, the Macs can never run games in their full glory. However, these videos that I found

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFBuZIOz0Wk (L4D2)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mwy7qcv1-IQ (MW2)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1uf0fswD_k (Maybe, you can't see the screen)

say otherwise. Unless the videos are BS, the games look nice and run quite well. I'm not the kind of person that has to have the sharpest graphics on the block, but I like to have a nice looking (and well-running) game. One question I have is(can't confirm it really with the last video) could I be able to play online with other PC players with bootcamped windows on an IMac?

Also, while I'm aware that Imacs are not really upgradable, and Mac Pros are, I can't really justify their cost when I can do what I want with a good Imac. My question is, is the equipment in an Imac good enough to last me a few years with the upcoming games, so that I can buy a new computer when the time comes?

Also, I've always heard that Macs have a good resale value. Considering that my mac is in good condition, would I be able to get a good price for a used Imac, helping out the cost with a new mac?

    Thanks for your help!

  • Easy Online Job like Cha Cha guide?

I've been looking a a online job for a couple of weeks. I looked at Cha Cha, a service that answers questions, and they had a guide position that required very little commitment, you worked when you were able to, and was basically easy money. You would be paid around 10 to 20 some cents a question, which could really add up fast from my understanding and from testimonies. However, they are not hiring anymore guides as-of-to-date. I checked out Kgb.com, however, I don't know how the hiring process works, and it seems like they want alot of personal information to work (if any one who works there has anything positive to say about them, or to say that it is is worth it please let me know)

Is there any other legit online job, maybe like Cha Cha, or something simple, with little to no commitment required (I'm a student and a athlete in high school) and pays somewhat better than Paid to click sites?

I can live with being paid very little, I'm just happy with easy money and a few bucks for spending cash, but I don't want to sit around all day, clicking on ads that pay out 1/2 a cent or less every time.

    Thank you!

  • Building a decent gaming computer under $1000?

I'm thinking about building myself a computer, and I want to keep it at least under $1000. Now I don't need a computer that will be able to run everything with beautiful graphics, but I do want something that will be at least decent. The family computer that I use now has these specs, and it runs games decently.

Operating System Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3

    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz (2 CPUs) Memory: 2046MB RAM

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB

Something along these lines would be great.

    Thanks for your help!

BTW, second question, what would be a better site to buy from, tigerdirect, or newegg?
