As soon as people get past their dogma and the question "Does a god exist?" we can move on to actually acting and behaving in better ways. The lesson and ideals are what I find important. The teacher was only the agent who delivered the message. Does it really matter whether the agent was real or not? When does the lesson become meaningless if it turns out that the agent/teacher never really existed? When we begin basing our decisions and public policies on reason rather than mythology and inflexible thinking, perhaps humankind will move forward and create a better world.
