  • How many is too many children for welfare? What is the government's responsibility?

I am against continuing welfare for a woman who has another child while receiving welfare. One time getting assistance should be a learning experience & the welfare should be a TEMPORARY stepping stone to a better life. If there is another pregnancy then all assistance should cease immediately.

Also, there should NOT be more money or benefits for more children. Until employers start increasing wages & benefits simply because the employee creates life, the welfare system should not be any different. If you need help then you get only one set amount for a short time no matter haw many children you have birthed. Our government did not decide for you to have the children so why should they be responsible for raising them?

Come to think of it; birth control training should be required of all women on welfare; repeated annually, as long as the assistance continues! I mean, like, a thorough, hours long class with demonstrations & free samples! This class would include abortion & adoption information and connections. I believe this would help for several reasons. First, there are still some women who are ignorant about birth control. This class would educate them. Second, some would be embarrassed by the class & work hard to be off of welfare & not have to repeat it. Third, demonstrations & handouts would help to make it available & easy to use. Fourth, the money that formerly increased when a family got bigger would be re-appropriated & be more than enough to pay for the training and supplies.

(There could also be a class for fathers of the children on assistance. I don't have ideas about that one; it's a possibility. It's harder for me to think about mandating a class for the fathers because they don't have any say AFTER the woman is pregnant & I think they often get a bad deal there. But that is another issue.)

    Opinions? Anyone?

I'd love to see some detailed opinions; especially if they are presented thoughtfully & respectfully. If you just want to spew hate don't bother to answer.

  • Is it Politically Correct to call them Guinea Pigs in the vet's office?

If I was talking to someone in my vet's office about animal testing would it be Politically Incorrect to call the (human or animal) test subjects Guinea Pigs? Or would it be offensive to the actual Guinea Pigs who might be patients there?

  • The Revolution A Manifesto by Ron Paul; What are your views on it, those who have read it already??

I am asking the people who have read it. If you haven't read it don't bother answering.

Is it consistent with the views I've heard?

Is it worth buying now, or should I wait for the paperback version?

  • Cell phones have been proven to be dangerous; how young is too young for a cell phone?

These days everyone from Grandmas to 10 yr olds have cell phones. (If you want to know where your 10 year old child is; well he's right where you dropped him off!! Where else would he be?)

I think the cell phone craze (family packages, unlimited minutes & grade schoolers with phones) is unnecessary hype! And don't get me started on cost! And phone manners!

First off; cell phones are dangerous. The cell phone makers don't want you to know that cell phones have been PROVEN to cause many cancers. http://www.rense.com/general63/FACTS.HTM

Yes, you can lessen the dangers by using a handsfree device, but.... the younger (child, teenage) user is less likely to keep track of a cell phone PLUS accessories, much less use the headset consistently.

Add to that how much a teenager talks on the phone & it adds up to GREAT RISK!

So, what is the age when a young person has so much going on that you're willing to risk their health to know where they are at every minute of the day??

  • Am I the only woman who thinks guys should have more choice when a girl is pregnant?

A woman gets pregnant; and the guy has ABSOLUTELY NO CHOICE! If a girl deceives a guy & gets pregnant why is the guy the one forced to pay? Sure, there was a choice made whether to use birth control, but that doesn't always work. And partners are not always honest with each other.

A pregnant woman should be REQUIRED to notify the father within 7 days of a positive test result. Then the father should have a legal option to say; "Yes, I want this child and I will be legally and morally responsible for his/her upbringing." OR "No, I don't want this child. I give up all rights and responsibilities." It would be like the FATHER'S ADOPTION OPTION. (Why is the mother the only one to give up a baby for adoption?) If the father said no then he would be released from ALL responsibility; then the mother would have a choice of A) Keep the child & get no child support. B) Have an abortion or C) Give up the baby for adoption.

  • How do I keep the tops of my sheets and comforter together on my bed without sewing?

I have no problem remembering to grab the sheet and comforter, but my sweetheart doesn't think of it & really messes up the bed. Is there any kind of clip I can attach to the top corners to keep them together?

I saw a similar question where the answer was to sew them together, but that's not really an option. I can't see SEWING & ripping out stitches every time I change the sheets.
