  • Looking for source of Nojami Whistles?

Sold on street corners and at fairs in Europe, these tiny whistles are about a centimeter long, made of bamboo or wood with a bit of rubber diaphragm. The whole thing is wrapped in a bit of plastic emblazoned with a cartoon character. It looks like a very tiny, user-friendly swazzle. It is NOT the "birdie whistle!!"

Where can I find a seller or distributor?

The card that came in the packet says they are made in Peru.

Have witnessed them being sold on Grafton St. in Dublin, Ire. and at Constitution Day in Oslo, Norway.

  • Equine data: terrain limitations, slopes?

I am trying to find specific information about the terrain that horses (shod) can traverse. Specifically, I would like to know what slopes cannot be walked across.

    Please post your sources.

    Thank you!

  • Source for cheap 17Hz subwoofer? (Evil Science Experiment)?

Do any of you fellow scientists know of a good source for inexpensive subwoofers? I need it to go at least as low as 17Hz, but due to the nature of the experiment, I don't want to use expensive equipment (in case I accidentally wind up epoxying the speaker to something else (it happened with the egg experiment)).

I have no grant money -I just need to find a good subwoofer source (or plans... I've got plenty of wire sitting around).

  • What is the recipe for Duk Hing chicken feet?

Duk Hing is a deli/butcher in Chinatown, San Francisco. They sell really good cooked chicken feet. I want to know the recipe. If I didn't live over a thousand miles away, I'd walk in there and ask them myself.

Does anyone here know that answer?

  • A good recipe for Fish Bones?

I love the bones in tinned fish. I'd like a recipe involving fish bones, but not in the context of "remove the fish bones," that is so common in most recipes.

I do not want stock or broth recipes. Nor am I looking for pickled fish recipes.

Do any of you have/know a source for recipes of fresh fish bones?

  • How does one cook the multitudes of dried fish found at the Asian Supermarket?

I've seen the little dried fish go on rice...

How does one cook the dried whole fish, fish fillets, and smaller fish (dried, of course) normally found in a thriving Asian Supermarket?

They smell wonderful, and I'd like recipes, or a webpage which hosts such recipes, to try.

  • Anyone know the Duk Hing Deli's chicken feet recipe?

Duk Hing Chinese Deli & Meat, Inc., 1151 Stockton St, San Francisco, makes the best chicken feet I've ever tried. Sadly, I currently live a few thousand miles away- or I would be in there every couple days.

    Does anyone know their recipe?

  • Crazy middle-of-night College Dorm Recipes?

Y'know, the recipes that sound like a good idea late at night, when you've been up for 36 hours.

Recipes that no one in their right mind would think of- 'chocolate spaghetti,' 'whole wheat spaghetti and raw egg,' and other gastronomic monstrosities.

    List them here please:

  • If all the carbon in an apple were converted into diamond, how large would that diamond be?

    http://wapsisquare.com/d/20071109.html

...shows a rather large diamond produced. Should it be this large? How many apples would be needed to produce a carat (not a carrot)?

  • Chicken foot recipe that doesn't involve stewing?

I've had chicken feet fixed two different ways. One recipe is generally called "golden phoenix claws" on the net- I don't like this one; the texture is broken down to goo.

I've had them fixed another way from a Chinatown market. It was probably steamed, but had a slight sesame oil flavour to it. The feet were intact, but the skin soft and fully cooked.

I haven't the recipe, but if anyone knows how to fix the second one there, please tell me.

If you don't know, please don't post any stupid answers.
