  • I am a female beginning week 2 of P90x, any advice?

I am beginning day 2 of week 2 of P90x. So far, I am seeing excellent results and have lost 10lbs. I am female, 5'10" (246lbs as of this morning). I have been following the diet and using the Livestrong calorie tracker iphone app to really stick to my portions, 2,500 calories/day, protein, carbs, etc. P90x recommends 3,000 calories for my height, weight, BMI, but I find it difficult to eat the portions sometimes so I lowered it and have felt the same energy level. I know I will not continue to lose weight this quickly but I would like some recommendations of users to continue seeing results.

I use resistance bands, and find they are very beneficial because I cannot install a chin up bar (or do a chin up). So far, I love yoga x (tough, but I feel great afterwords) and stretch x, but I have been finding the other videos very difficult.

  • How do you politely accept a gift card from a restaurant you have complained to?

I recently dined at a sushi restaurant in Columbus, Ohio and received less than quality food and service. (Believe it or not, I have been here MANY times before & enjoyed it!) First, our sushi appetizer was old, and shriveled looking. Then when our meals came, we quickly noticed many problems. I ordered a Chinese Stew that was cooked with the tendons and fat still on the meat. The pieces of beef were also too large to eat in one bite and no knives were available. My fiance ordered a dish with curried noodles that had chunks of curry powder in it, rather than a sauce. We were expecting it to be a pricey meal, but when we ate two bites of our food and then refused boxes, the waitress was not the least bit concerned and quickly brought our $58 bill.

I did not complain at the restaurant but the more I thought about it, the more upset I became. I decided to email the restaurant and ask to ensure a more quality dining experience to future customers. The General Manager emailed me back to apologize and to say that she had spoken to the cook and wait staff about these matters. She also asked me to send her my address so she could send a gift card in hopes that they could win us back as patrons.

This is beyond any expectations I had and I am not sure how to graciously accept the gift card without seeming like I am trying to get a free meal. Ultimately, I am very happy knowing that she spoke the staff about these matters. While I appreciate her efforts and kindness, I am not sure how I feel about accepting such a gift. My goal was not to receive a free meal.

  • Do you have a great sticky toffee pudding recipe without dates?

I have fallen in love with Häagen-Dazs sticky toffee pudding ice cream. I enjoy it so much, I have been wanting to make sticky toffee pudding, which is described on the ice cream container as 'warm brown sugar cake with sticky toffee sauce.' Sound great right? Well trying to find a recipe has been a pain.

Most recipes call for dates which I don't want. I would just leave them out, except the instructions say to put them in water with baking soda. I think that just leaving them out of the recipe will alter the turn-out of the cake and I don't want to do that.

SO, could anyone offer me, a tried-and-true recipe of sticky toffee pudding?

Please don't just find a recipe online and paste it in here. I am looking for a recipe that has been tried by you, and will guarantee me a great cake.

    Thanks!

  • I went to the allergist and I have no allergies after being poked 100 x's

I still have chronic hives (lasting 2 mos.) and have had my blood taken, and am waiting for the results. My doctor said I could have an auto-immune disease. Has anyone gone through something like this?

  • How can I get some relief from my constant itching?

I have chronic hives that have worsened over the past 2 days. I have been eating very basic things like toast, and drinking water in case it is a food allergy. Some days eating little to nothing. I have been to the doctor once and received a steroid treatment that did not help. I cannot get into my doctor again for another week, and I need some relief.

I have also switched to hypo-allergenic products such as laundry detergent, and soaps, to eliminate a potential chemical sensitivity disorder.

I am so itchy I am crawling in my own skin, and I have huge, unattractive hives covering my arms and legs. I have been using a topical benadryl as well as a large dose of anti-histamines as recommended by my doctor. A cold bath can't even sooth this itching.

ANY recommendations would be greatly appreciated, I will honestly try anything at this point.

  • What is causing my hives?

I have had hives daily for about a month. It started one morning, when I woke up with what I thought were bug bites; the bumps were on my sides and faded after being awake for 4 hours. The next morning I had these bumps again, except they were also on the back of my thighs. I then thought that it must be something in my bed, I washed all of my bedding, and slept on the couch that night, with my clean blankets. The next day I woke up with the same amount of hives. My sister and I went out for sushi that night, where I had shellfish and peanuts; i do eat these things on a pretty regular basis however. On the way home in the car my lip swelled up at least 3x its original size.

I took benadryl and woke up with a lip that was still swollen. The swelling didn't go down until about noon.

I cut out foods that I suspected for about a week but still had this hives everyday upon waking up. I get a swollen lip at least 1x a week

I currently have an unusually lrg amount on my back and neck help!

  • Does anyone have any ideas of a 'first dance' song?

My fiancé and I are looking at ideas of songs for our first dance as husband and wife. I don't want to bore our guests with another dance to Elton John's, Can You Feel the Love Tonight or Harry Connick Jr's, It Had to be You. We're into more alternative music, and we want a song that is unique; but also special to us or that we can relate to.

Our only idea so far is a song by This Day & Age called Second Place Victory. (If you haven't heard this song, you should, it is beautiful!) We really love the way it sounds, and it brings back many memories of the past four years that we have been dating. However, it is a bit lengthy, and the end of the song is a little harder than your typical slow dance song.

Other artists we both have on our ipods are Straylight Run, The Academy Is, The Honorary Title, Motion City Soundtrack, Paramore, The Spill Canvas, Emery, Underoath, the list goes on and on.

ANY ideas will be greatly appreciated!
