How do I give myself "administrator permission" to move files on my own laptop?
This is crazy. It's never happened before. I had a Windows Update a few days ago, and a lot of stuff was moved around on my laptop, a lot of it into a folder called "TEMP.LAPTOP-TJID9UHB.008" in the Users folder of Windows (C:).
I tried moving my music files back in my music folder (in the "This PC"), and I get a popup that says "You must provide administrator permission to move this folder/file."
I've never had to do that before. Additional Q: What the hell is that TEMP. folder anyway? When I look on File Explorer, there is a whole series of these folders, named TEMP.LAPTOP-TJID9UHB.000 through TEMP.LAPTOP-TJID9UHB.008.
How do I fix this?
2 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks1 week agoHas Yahoo's "new and improved" comment section a big joke?
Here is a comment that I had rejected, concerning allegations of improper behavior, sexual harassment, etc. withing the New York Mets organization.
"I don't doubt that all professional sport is rife with pigs, Neanderthals, and other semi-civilized types. Nor do I doubt that there are a lot of people in positions of authority in pro sports who deserve to be thrown out on their ears for their behavior. However considering that Yahoo is likewise rife with "journalists" who are more concerned with being "woke" than anything else, I think I will go to a couple actual news sources before making up my own mind as to the extent and severity of the misbehavior, and whether or not torches and pitchforks are appropriate, as Ms. Negley suggests."
My comment was reject on the grounds that "some members of our community might find this inappropriate."
I can't figure out who would take offense at that comment, other than the Yahoo "journalist" that wrote the story.
5 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 week agoHave you noticed that Yahoo is picking and choosing what news stories can be commented on? Only the most innocuous stories have comments?
So much for "safe and engaging place for users to connect over interests and passions." Yahoo is 100% trying to muzzle any pushback against the their content.
3 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 week agoIf MLB is so put out by the State of Georgia, why don't they threaten to strip Atlanta of their baseball franchise?
It wouldn't be because the Braves' strong ratings on national broadcasts and their consistently strong merchandise number generate a lot of revenue for the league, would it?

1 AnswerPolls & Surveys3 weeks agoLebron James had bought into the Red Sox. Does this make the Bosox more "woke?"?
Will the Sox play exhibition games in China next season? And is this just one more reason to be a Yankees fan?

5 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 month agoWhy is it that when there is a news story that somebody makes hateful, racist, etc. social media post, the post isn't part of the story?
So that somebody reading the story can look at the Facebook post, Tweet, or whatever, so that we can form our own opinion as to the hatefulness of the post.
Instead, the vast majority of these sorts of stories read something like, "Twitter is ablaze after Jeb Muckenfuss' racist Tweets tweets this morning. I'm not going include them in the story, but take my word for it, it was racist."
How about "journalists" allowing their readers to judge for themselves?
1 AnswerMedia & Journalism1 month agoWhat's wrong with Yahoo Sports today?
All their articles are about real games, and not the usual 70-30 mix of social justice vs. actual sports.
Other - Yahoo Products1 month agoIsn't it odd that as soon as Jared Kushner endorsed Biden's Iran policy, Liberals came out against it?
They didn't seem to have any problems with it before that. Is there a plainer sign that we need to move beyond mere partisanship before it's too late?
Can't wait for you Liberals to come up with your "Yeah but Trump....." responses. I've ripped Trump-supporting Conservatives here in the past. Consider this "equal time."

5 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 month agoWhat the hell is going on with the Windows Updates these days?
The last two have totally rearranged stuff on my computer, reset a bunch of my setting to the "Microsoft defaults" (like making Edge my browser, which I never use), totally zapped all my Firefox bookmarks, and managed to lose a bunch of my documents.
After the last one, I wasted a lot of time recovering stuff from Carbonite.
I'm about ready to hop a flight to Portland and kick Bill Gates in the crotch.
