  • How are our general elections won?

    In America they have a point based system which I personally hate but it got me to wondering.

    Are our elections the same or are our votes 1:1? I m 17 so not really very knowledgeable on the subject of actually voting.

    Thanks!

  • Simultaneous logarithm help?

    Doing my revision and I've been given the following question:

    Given x and y are both positive, solve the simultaneous equations

    log(xy) = 7

    log(x/y) = 1

    Now, I've tried everything but they haven't given a base so I'm completely stuck. I looked up the answer (I won't say for your sake of discovery) but I can't see how they plug in to the equation at all and it's driving me crazy

  • Need help with spots, black heads and pores?

    (for american people here, spots = pimples in the uk)

    Please, I've tried face masks, exfoliators, cleansers. I squeeze the pores on my nose and skin a few times a week and wash my face up to twice a day, it disgusts me and I've tried everything.

    My problem isn't serious enough to go to a doctor but I don't know what to try anymore, I just want healthy skin with no traces of these things, I've even tried make up but it doesn't cover them up very well as my pores are very prominent.

    I don't have severe acne but I'm very prone to spots.

    Is there something I can use for my skin which just removes all the dirt from spots and black heads?

  • Help: Singing range help & songs?

    Hey so my voice is a little weird,

    basically my chest vocal range is around D2-E4 and my head is really high pitched? As in I can reach G3-D6 without straining notes but can put power into my head up to C6.

    I find it very hard trying to find a mid voice and I'm working on it but it either goes quite nasally unless I push my chest voice but then that will end up making my voice very raw and coarse after extended use and slowly bring my vocal range in?

    But after waiting a few hours my vocie is back to 'full' manipulation.

    Are there any songs you could give me which take full advantage of my low notes? I often try country songs and elvis, etc but they don't go that low and dont really line up with my music taste (anything from jazz -> rock-> metal -> acoustic)?

    Secondly, are there any tips to work on your mid voice because it feels like I'm trying to link a bass to a soprano singer

  • Song about loneliness/isolation?

    Looking for some type of mellow song about being isolated. Never being loved/have loved. No relationships/love, just that despair of lonliness.

  • Rearranging the formula?

    Make n the subject

    p = (n^2+a)/(n+a)

    I have tried very hard and even put the answear into Wolfram Alpha but I just do not get it.

    Here are the steps I've done so far

    n^2-pn-pa = -a

    n - sqrt(pn) - sqrt(pa) = sqrt(-a)

    n - sqrt(pn) = sqrt(pa-a)

    And I do not know where to go from there, I have experimented different methods and attempting different divisions as I know somehow I need to gather x on one side which means the left side will be in the format: n(1-sqrt(p)) or something but n*sqrt(p) =/= sqrt(pn)

  • find the maximum height of a rocket?

    gravity = 10N/kg

    rocket mass = 0.05kg

    rocket velocity = 12m/s

    kinetic energy, (1/2m*v^2) = 3.6J

    therefore gravitational potential energy = 3.6

    (ignore air resistance)

    In order to find the maximum height, the formula is (difference in GPE = mass * gravity * height)

    rearrange this to be (GPE/mass*gravity = height)

    3.6/0.05*10 = 7.2 meters

    Am I correct?

  • Singing help (different between falsetto/head voice and range)?

    Ok hey,

    So I'm a bit stuck here, I'll explain my first dilemma which is more a simple characteristic of my voice; so the lowest note I can reach (I believe to be) Is an e0 and that chest voice further goes to a c4. From there the second type of voice' (I believe this to be my head voice) seems to completely vary in tone and can range from an f#3-d6 and my final falsetto (or what I believe to be a falsetto due to its airy nature) can go from that d6 to around a g/a6. this seems to be around a 7 octave span and was wondering if I am misreading any of this? I use my phone pitch recorder app to measure and it gets a little bit dodgy around the 0 octave.

    The second is that my falsetto is very confusing.. As said I know the highest notes but aside from the 6th octave, the only notes I can reach in falsetto are d3 to a4 and was wondering if I am correctly doing falsetto/head voice as my natural head voice starts around a e4 and I have to push to go to the 3rd octave with it. Now from what I can tell, generally a head voice still sounds quite thick whereas mine is very streamline... like a recorder or clarinet meanwhile I can only sufficiently push my natural tone voice to around a c4 with effort; although when I add nasal (allike the style or pop punk or wheatus esq sounding I can push (with alot of effort) to a g4.

    Sorry my voice is extremely confusing and was wondering if someone can offer some clarity.am prepared to provide recordings but they won't be very high quality.

  • What are those fabric bands you often see more 'alternative' people wear?

    I'm from the UK;

    was wondering if there was a specific name to the type of fabric bracelets you see that are normally worn in excess? Not sure if they're as common in America. Thanks c:
