Give some physical evidence to support the claim that Boron tends to form covalent compounds while Aluminum tends to form ionic compounds.
Part of my problem is I am not sure what "physical evidence" this is looking for.
2 AnswersChemistry5 years agoChemistry Question... I am NOT IN ORGANIC CHEMISTRY so I have no idea what this is... Due soon... PLEASE HELP?
1. Based on what you know about intermolecular forces, would neutral or protonated putrescine have a higher boiling point?
2. What is the molecular geometry/shape about both N atoms in neutral putrescine?
3. What is the molecular geometry/shape about both N atoms in protonated putrescine?

You lift your textbook & drop it onto a desk. Describe the energy transformations (from 1 to another) that occur moving backward in time from a moment after impact.
1 AnswerChemistry5 years agoChemistry Question... Due date is almost here and I am not sure how to explain this... HELP PLEASE?
Which liquid has a lower Vapor Pressure at room temperature, dihexyl ether (C12H26O, BP= 228 degrees C) or methanol (CH3OH, BP=65 degrees C)? Briefly explain your choice.

How many total ions are present in 20.0 mL of a 1.50 M solution of Ca(NO3)2?
I remember that M= moles/Liters & 1 L= 1000 mL so 20.0 mL=0.02 L but I don't know where to go from there...
2 AnswersChemistry5 years agoChemistry Question... PLEASE HELP? I've been working on my homework for hours & I am stuck on this one... And we don't have lectures...?
a) Determine the N--O bond order for each of the following species:
1) NO
2) NO2^1-
3) HNO2
*If I remember correctly Bond Order is something along the lines of # shared/# bonds, but I am not certain and I don't know if I did it correctly.
b) Rank ALL the NO bonds in PART A in order of increasing length.

KMnO4 reacts with hydrochloric acid to give us chlorine gas.
a) If 8.5 g of KMnO4 is mixed with 50 mL of 6.0 M HCl, what is the final pressure of chlorine gas that could be generated if the final temperature is 110 degrees celsius in a 1.5 L flask?
I know the balanced equation is:
2 KMnO4 + 16 HCl -----> 2 MnCl2 + 2 KCl + 5Cl2 (g) + 8H2O
I also think that due to STP the temperature should be in Kelvin for this type of problem, but I am still stuck and my book wasn't helping.
b) How much of the other reagent (the one that is not the limiting reactant) is left over?
THANKS SO MUCH!!!

A 1.000 g sample of solid residue is being analyzed for Barium. The sample is dissolved and Sodium Sulfate is added. The insoluble Barium Sulfate product that is produced is dried, and a total of 54.9 mg of BaSO4 is collected. What is the mass percent of Ba that was present in the ORIGINAL sample (not the BaSO4 product)-- the original solid residue that contained Ba?

If an equal number of moles of a hot material is placed into thermal contact with a cold material, the final equilibrium temperature will be closer to the substance that has the:
a) LOWER molar heat capacity
b) HIGHER molar heat capacity

How many mL of a 0.240 M HCL solution would be required to completely react with one solid tablet of regular-strength Tums, if each tablet contained 500.0 mg of CaCO3 according to the manufacturer?
I thought I needed to start by working to create a balanced equation?
1 AnswerChemistry5 years agoQuick Homework question... Chemistry. Is what I already have correct?
Which of the following molecules has a net dipole movement?
a) XeF4
b) ICl3
c) Ge(CH2CH3)4
d) None of these
MY ANSWER: When I did this question, I came my answer, I got that A had C had no net dipole movement and therefore came up with the fact that choice B had net dipole movement based on lewis structures. Is this correct?
Thanks for your help in advance! Appreciate it!
