I think I've observed most self avowed atheists take stands on the side of what is commonly called 'liberalism'. There seems to be no atheist that leans more toward conservatism or libertarianism. Why is this?

Being more advanced in years in most seekers here, I constantly find myself disappointed in my expections of the marks of maturity in my peers. Being somewhat precocious at an early age my expectations haven't changed much though.
