I've been going to races of all kinds for many years. I was an F1 fan at first, but in those days drivers went from series to series, depending on what was running that week. It was a small, but not exclusive club, the people were very nice, very accessible, and helpful.. Went to NASCAR races too, but they were different, with different skills, and they belonged to a different racing community. A much less respected community. They were nice as well (had a long conversation car to car, with Bobby Isaac while stuck in traffic, after he won the Trenton race).. My favorite drivers had been Mark Donohue, after Jim Clark had died, and Dan Gurney. In NASCAR it was Glen "Fireball" Roberts", and later Richard Petty.. (I didn't think of them as anything even near equal... told ya') Sometime in 79 I saw this kid named Earnhardt, wow.. My racing interests changed forever....
