  • Do you think I'll get sick?

3 of my housemates have had a lower GI "flu" in the last few days. (Last one just got it today. We share a bathroom and kitchen but I have separate dishes. I've been in the house but mostly in my bedroom with the door closed. Do you think I have any chance of escaping with my colon still intact?

  • What to do this weekend?

Thinking about driving home this weekend. But it would be about $30-35 for gas and I'm trying to save $, plus I was just home for winter break (until last week). BUT, I don't have class this Friday or Monday, so I hate to spend a 4 day weekend at school. Opinions?

  • Is the OtterBox Defender worth the $?

I have an iPhone 4 and need a new case. I know OtterBox is supposed to be really good, but I'm trying to decide if

    - I really need that much protection? (I'm not THAT hard on my iPhone, but all it takes dropping it the wrong way one time...)

    - Should I sink $50 into a case now since I'll probably upgrade to the iPhone 5 next spring (when my contract is up)

    - Should I risk buying an OtterBox from Amazon? About half the price, but I'm thinking maybe you get what you pay for?

  • Should I get an iPad?

I have a laptop and an iPhone, so I'm not sure if an iPad would really be worth buying. I have a lot of money saved from tips/random change (like a few year's worth), so I could either buy something fun but completely unnecessary (like an iPad), or I could put it toward something practical but completely boring (like an extra month's rent).

  • Slideshow music ideas?

If you were making a slideshow for a high school graduate and had enough pics for 5-6 songs, which ones would you pick?

  • Slideshow song ideas?

I'm making a video for my little bro's high school graduation party, and I need some ideas for songs. Here's what I have so far:

Forever Young (Bob Dylan)- Baby pictures

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sldgunY3Fw

You Make Me Feel So Young (Frank Sinatra)- Toddler/preschool age

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-IFOJYzt_s

Scooby Doo theme song (unusual choice I know, but Scooby was his absolute favorite TV show when he was little.)- Early school years

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FysobubtDcI

Some random song that he likes now (I'll have to raid his iTunes)- recent/friend pics

Two of Us (Beatles)- him and me

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFAAiSyxP-o

I need another song for his early childhood and one for preteen/early teen years. I thought about Godspeed (Dixie Chicks) somewhere toward the beginning, but Dylan is already sorta country/blues, and that one's staying for sure. Plus, I don't really even like the Dixie Chicks (and neither does my brother), it's just a cute song. Maybe something a little more upbeat?

    Ideas?

  • Which movie should I watch?

    Alien or Nowhere Boy?

(Nowhere Boy is about John Lennon, in case you've never seen it.)

  • parents, what do you think about this?

At the church I attend, there's a handful of parents who keep their young kids in the main service instead of putting them in the nursery or Sunday school. The kids aren't really out of control, but they're too young to sit quietly for an hour. I understand parents who don't want to put their young infants in the nursery, but these kids are probably all 1-4 years old. I find it distracting and a little annoying to listen to children crying, talking, etc. during church. And the church has good children's classes, so it's not like keeping them in the main service is the only option. Am I being unreasonable?

  • any brilliant ideas for fish names?

I have a blue betta fish that's currently nameless.

    10 AnswersFish1 decade ago
  • Would this be totally cruel?

I got a betta fish about a week ago, and he's developed fin rot. Actually I think he had it just a little when I got him and it got worse in the stress of moving him to a new tank. But anyway, I know it's fairly common and fairly easy to cure, but here's my question:

Is it worthwhile to pay $15 for antibiotics to cure a fish that cost $2?

  • Which name do you like better?

    Elaine or Elena

Not pregnant, just curious. My grandma's name is Elaine, and I like the idea of using a family name. The middle name would be Renee (my mom's middle name).

So, Elaine, Elena (el-AIN-ah), or neither?

  • why does literature matter?

I am a nursing student, so my primary concern is science. I can understand that some classes are beneficial, even if they aren't directly related to my major. Psychology helps you understand people, philosophy helps you to think better, etc.

But could someone please explain to me WHY literature even matters?? I honestly cannot think of a single good reason to learn how to study symbolism in short stories and stuff like that. It is probably the only class I have taken so far that seems to be absolutely useless.

  • Boundaries with parents and college students?

I'm a sophomore in college, and I'm curious to get input from other parents about what this whole parent/"child" thing should look like now.

    Here's the deal:

Yesterday, I lost my cell phone and wasn't able to get it back until this morning. My parents were apparently trying to call/text me, but obviously I didn't get their messages. So my mom Facebook messaged my RA AND another girl from our floor (before trying to contact me via Facebook or e-mail) because she thought maybe I was dead or something. (I had a bad headache the day before, so she was afraid I had a brain aneurysm or something.)

Today when I talked to her, she said she thought it was great that she could talk to my friends on Facebook this year, because last year my RA wasn't real receptive to talking with parents. When I asked what she meant, she said "Well, when we dropped you off on your first day, I tried to leave my name and phone number with Joanne (my RA), and she said that she couldn't do that and you guys were adults." (She apparently thought this was a bad thing; I totally agreed with Joanne!)

So what's your opinion? Where's the balance between being concerned parents and letting go and letting your kids grow up? Because personally, I feel like my mom has violated some boundaries here, but obviously I don't see these things from a parent's perspective.

  • Decorating a dorm room?

I just moved back to school and my room looks like a prison cell. I'm not feeling particularly creative right now, and I could use some ideas for decorating. Last year, I had a Beatles poster above my desk (left it at home because I had waaaaaayy too much Beatles stuff at school and it seemed a little too "weird" or obscure), a bunch of pictures of family and high school friends, some quotes, notes from my family, coloring book pages (I got really bored!), and a couple of drawings from my little cousin.

I want to do some different stuff this year- I don't want so much Beatles stuff (poster, calendar, quotes, etc.), and 80% of my photos were people that I really don't hang out with anymore (and I don't have many pics with college friends)

    Help!

  • What do you think of these names?

    Not pregnant, just curious.

    Elaine Renee

    William Thomas (Will)

    James Paul

The first two are both family names- Elaine is my grandma's first name, Renee is my mom's middle name, William is one grandpa's first name and the other's middle name, and Thomas is my dad and grandpa's first name.

  • Remastered Beatles CDs? What do you think?

I posted this question in the music category a couple weeks ago, but I thought I'd repost here to get a few more answers.

I have several CDs with the old mastering, and I'm trying to decide whether to stick with the old versions or go for remasters when I buy the rest of them. What do you guys think? The sound is a little better on the remasters, but to me there's something appealing about the older ones. HELP!! I need to quit agonizing over this one!
