  • Shortened lifespan in Albino Leopard Geckos?

Someone told me that Albinos can have a shorter lifespan than average Leopard Geckos. I don't want to purchase an animal that never would have had the chance to live a full life... it doesn't really seem humane to me. Could somebody clarify this for me?

  • Corydoras barbel damage?

I hear having abrasive substrate can damage Bronze Corydoras's barbels. I have gravel that has pebbles of varying size. Generally though, they're around 1/4 of an inch. Will this damage the Corydoras's barbels?

  • Leopard Gecko biting?

Does your leopard gecko bite plants and/or objects in it's enclosure? I was going to put a plant with the scientific name "Euphorbia obesa" in the Leopard Gecko enclosure I have. However, Euphorbia have sap that could be dangerous to Leopard Geckos if they bite it. The Leopard Gecko's health is the number 1 most important thing, and so I probably won't put the plant in, but I'd like some input.

  • What is the diameter of a Mealworm?

It's sounds stupid, but what's the diameter of a full-sized mealworm? Not one of those creepy mutant "Giant Mealworms", just a normal Mealworm. Superworm, Waxworm and Spike size would be useful too, but are not desperately needed.

  • My friend wants a Dark Colored Lizard?

I'm getting a Leopard Gecko, and so my friend now wants a lizard because most of his friends (including me) have/or are getting a lizard. He wants one that is darkly colored (gothic?) and preferably handleable. And legal, of course.

  • Heating for Leopard Geckos?

I want to know what would be best for my Leoaprd Gecko that I'm getting. During the night, the house can drop to 65 degrees, and I have a 75 watt Exo Terra Night Heat Lamp bulb and 100 watt Exo Terra Intense Basking Light bulb. Additionally, I also have ZooMed's Excavator Clay Substrate. During the day, the basking bulb heats one side up to 80 degrees, while it only heats the other side to 77 degrees. Which is one degree above room temperature. So when it's cold that may drop down to around 66 degrees.

    Any suggestions?

  • Feeder Insects for Leopard Geckos?

I'm getting a Leopard Gecko, however I'm not sure what feeder insect is best for it. Crickets seem like an obvious choice, but, apparently they have almost no nutrients and are hard to breed. Roaches seem like they will breed to fast (I'm only getting one Gecko, for now at least) and are too expensive to buy on a regular basis. I hear Mealworms can cause impaction, and Waxworms, Butterworms and Superworms are far too fatty to be a staple. Maggots are also a bit too fatty. The only one I'm not sure of is Isopods.

What do you think? How much of this is true? Of course, I'd feed my gecko more than one thing, I'm just trying to find a staple.
