If you've never been in business before, I would strongly recommend that you talk to a business counselor before you do anything especially spend money. I'd call the local office of SCORE (go to http://www.score.org/ and input your zip code to find the chapter nearest you), the advice is FREE. I would request a someone with an apparel and retail background as a counselor.

The counselor at SCORE will most likely advise you to write a business plan which is very good advice because it will force you to dig out all of the start up details and the costs of starting a retail store and force you to also understand all of the aspects of this business including the customers you'll concentrate on (your market ) and how you'll go after them.

    Try this link :

and read some of the articles especially the ones about a business plan and starting a business.

    Good Luck

It might if you set it up in a high traffic area. Also think about opening your own online store. this way you can ship anywhere in the US. Its very easy to do on Yahoo.

Dont get a high class store just yet until you know for sure how its going to work out. Start small and then build up. It would be best to set up shop where alot of people go.

Not only do I think it's a good idea but I think it's also a great way to gain more recognition for your brand. My suggestion would be to ask your customers first - it's not necessary, but it is suggested - so long as you're not opening it up next door to them they shouldn't have a problem with it but the gesture will be there.

It will, with the right marketing and sales strategy it definitely will.

    things to consider though:

    get a good designer

    a good marketing guy

    experienced sales people

    an exceptional product manager

and don't rush the brand name. think of a real good brand name

My goodness, you are asking Y/A?

First you need to do a business plan, then study the retail market.

Marketing at the retail level is expensive and extremely competitive. If you are already wholesaling, then the retailers are doing your retail level marketing for you. It would make more sense to me to allow them to do your marketing for you.

If you are having little success wholesaling, take a hard look at your product or your wholesale (business to business) marketing strategies.
