I would set it up algebraically.
X(.06)=510
Divide both sides by .06 and you get
X=8500

You have to figure the sale price then what number is 6% so you divide 6 into 510 and you get 85 multipllyl 6 times 85 and you get 510.

Divide the commission by 6 and then mutliply by 100
510/6 = 85
85 x 100 = $8,500

510 = 6%
x = 100%
Sol'n:
510 * 100 = 51000
51000 / 6 = 8500
Sales = 8500

answer is 8500
to get the answer divide 510 by 6 you get 85 then add two 00 or times by 100makes it 8500.
