The Beatles? why do people underate pauls input?
Is it because with john's death he has a better profile .There is no doubt that without paul there would be a huge gap in musicianship, vocal ability and ideas.
similar to Jim morrison and the Doors.Remember that Robbie Krieger wrote a huge number of their most well known songs i.e Light my fire, love me two times and wishful sinful etc.
why do they not get more credit .Is it just people do not really know the history ? interested in anyones opinion.
mable. I agree that George was underated , particularly as a guitarist.
many top guitarists list him as an inspiration and as a songwriter he came into his own towards the end of The beatles life.Mind you he had some talent infront of him everyday that must have had an effect.
ernie. at the time he was not but as time has gone on ,and less thoughtful people have latched onto them, his input is now thought of as less worthy.you only need to look at some old answers to other beatle questions to see it.cheers

Some people underate Paul's input because the perception was that Paul was a calculating songwriter that wrote to make hits. John was perceived to be a more natural writer that pushed the edge. The truth is that they were both songwriting geniuses that happen to be in the same band together. John simply was able to tap in the psyche of the people better than Paul, which had nothing to do with their input.

Paul wasn't under rated, but he wasn't the leader of the Beatles, John was. OTOH, Maclen was the collaboration of John Lennon and Paul MacCartney's writing. It was an acknoledgement of Pauls value. George was an excellent guitarist and many people don't realize that Ringo was an excellent drummer too. Listen to Golden Slumbers, there's a drum roll that is super human.

Paul McCartney was surely never underated!....and John's death had nothing to do with it...Paul had come out with many records before John was killed...George Harrison, on the otherhand was the underated one since many songs he wrote became Beatle hits and he hardly got any recognition for it, if any at all!

It was George Harrison who was underrated, because some of the songs were written by him are thought to have been written by John and Paul.
