Maxtor Hard Drive Formatting?
Does anyone know where I can find a Maxtor HDD Format Tool? Since Seagate have taken over Maxtor, the Maxtor Support is rather lacking...

Well, to format a disk (in the sense of common way of talking about formatting) you wouldn't need any special tools, all major operating system provides their own format program.
However, I think what you want to talk is about low-level formatting which is resetting the disk to factory condition. Low level formatting should only be done when there is a damage to the disk that is unrepairable by normal, high-level formatting.
Seagate's harddrive could be low level formatted (or with Seagate's term Zero Filled) with their Disk Wizard tool. For Maxtor's harddisk you'd use MaxBlast (the documentation between DiskWizard and MaxBlast is extremely similar that I think they're the same tools under different names). You could download MaxBlast here: http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?locale=en-US...
Alternatively, a 3rd party low-level formatting tools could also be tried.
