Please can someone advise me on Chinese New Year social etiquette?

What things should I do and what should I absolutely NOT do.

    If you're married give unmarried people (friends and family) red envelopes with money inside..

    If you are not married EXPECT red envelopes with money inside - haha!

    Grr - I am married so we have red envelopes to hand out - boooooo!

    editted to add - don't buy new shoes during the New Year festival time!! It's bad luck.

    Don't pick a fight or a quarrel with a Chinese on CNY. Be especially pleasant.
