Why do the US right wing, with their hatred of Islam, call themselves "Christian"?

They are, when it is convenient for them to be. They can also twist the words of the Bible around to justify whatever illegal things they are doing or else they claim that "God spoke to them". OK, so God told us to go invade a country and impose our way of living on them while killing thousands of people. Makes sense to me. As for Christian values. Do these values possibly include, Oh I don't know, stereotyping??? For example, assuming that because you are from another country that you like to watch soccer.

The Islamic cult has been at war with Christians since Muhammed drew first blood in the seventh century. Islam has been on the warpath ever since.

The Crusades actually began after centuries of Islamic conquest and agression against Christian lands.

None of the right-wing policies have Christian values. It's all about dog eat dog world principles from the top/down -- whatever costs the least, has the least social responsibility and increases the most opportunities for personal wealth are the foundations of their policies. They use religion, and Christianity being the most popular in the U.S., as a wedge issue to draw in people to vote against other leaders. Simple as that.

I have never met or heard a right winger that did not come from this view, non has advocated a message of humility, love, charity or non-judgement, all core christian values. For them, it is always about greed, hate, fear and judgement. It's an awful generality, but I'm sure there are a few true christians that just don't understand their party's policies out there.

As human, we are intolerant of anything that doesn't fit into our precious little package of self-serving reality.

Christians follow Christ, but not his words. Muslims follow Allah through Mohammed, but not his words. The Jews follow Yahweh, but not his words. The words and the path we follow are those of the power brokers who pull the strings, making mindless adherents, like us, do their bidding.

Christians understand, as you evidently do not, that any religion, such as Islam, that does not come from God comes from Satan. We don't hate the muslims, we pity them. We do, however, hate the one who influences them. Satan, get thee behind me! I'm not calling you Satan. You're merely ignorant of the facts. Those are Christian values.
