Neutered cat attracted to stuffed animal???
I have an 18 month, neutered male cat that seems to have taken a liking to my daughter's stuffed animals. I caught him earlier today on top of a stuffed tiger, basically humping it (sorry if tmi) and purring about as loudly as I've ever heard him. Thinking it was a freak attack, I left him alone and then caught him tonight doing the same thing. This time I took the tiger away and he went after a stuffed dog instead.
So, my question is this: does my neutered cat still have the ability to be sexually aroused? It seems like when he was neutered he would have lost the want for this kind of activity. I had another cat for 16 years and NEVER saw this kind of behavior from him. Any ideas?
There is a dog in our house and they rough-house a lot. So, I don't think it's an issue of pecking-order so to speak.

My neutered cat does the same thing. It's not really a big deal to my family. I don't think its "too" weird. We just kind of let him be because he's not hurting anything

My beloved Turbo was a neutered male, but used to get ... uh, romantic with shoes ... especially smelly sneakers and work shoes. Sometimes it would be empty shoes and sometimes it would be shoes people were wearing. Now and then he would even ... uh, dance ... with your leg like a dog will do. I suggest you go to the Salvation Army store and buy him a few stuffed animals of his own. I got Turbo some shoes of his own and he wasn't always ... uh, flirting ... with my feet after that. I'm glad there is at least one more cat in the world with this weird behavior.

I have seen spayed females do it, so I would assume that a male would too. Not sure why, but I am guessing instinct. For now, I would just hide your daughters toys and pray that this is just a phase. I guess it could be worse, I have heard of neutered males that still sprayed in the house. yuck. Good luck

I think it is totally normal. Both of my neutered male cats do this. Splat definitely does it more. And it doesn't necessarily matter what kind of animal it is. If it is stuffed he goes after it. But don't worry it is normal. Cats do still have a sex drive. we have three female cats and when they're in heat it's crazy... Hope this helps.

Erections are normal on fixed cats. My male cat who is fixed gets one whenever he cleans himself in that general area or if you pet his stomach. Also, once a male cat has developed the spraying habit it will continue after they have been fixed. Both of these things will decrease and eventually stop as they age. If you want to know if he is fixed, lift up his tail and see if he has any balls. He may have a ball sac but if there is nothing in ti, then he's been fixed.

lol, I have a female, yes female spayed chihuahua that humps people's feet and legs whenever she gets a chance! Funny thing is, she is NOT the dominant dog in the household, in fact, she's very submissive. But boy, start roughhousing with her, or get physical with another person, and she's on your leg like white on rice and won't let up. Sometimes she gets sneaky about it, like no one will notice if she slowly puts a leg over your foot and humps veerrryy slowly.
Did you get your cat fixed later in life? I often wonder if I simply waited too long (3 years) before I got my girl spayed .

He is "dominating" the toy....evidently there aren't other animals in the household for him to establish a pecking order with. Let him have a toy to rule over!

Mine used to like knitted blankets. Whenever he got cranky we would toss him on one so he could make himself happy.
