When it snows, do people go out less?

this may sound like an obvious question but i am trying to write a paper on how when it snows and the roads are dangerous people go out less, spend less money, and it ultimately hurts the economy of the town....however i cannot find any data to support this...if you yourself stay in, or if you don't, let me know...and also if you know of any articles from a newspaper or any source that i could use to support it let me know..thanks

That's going to be an exceedingly tough one to answer. The problem for you is that no two storms are alike. When there is a horrible blizzard, most activity in an area shuts down and thus economic activity decreases. People don't go to restaurants, movies, etc.

If there is one inch of snow, no one will be stopped from doing anything. Six inches with a bad wind? That might keeep some people home? Twelve inches? Schools might be closed. And so on.

My guess is that it would have to be a major storm to have much of an impact.

no one stays in when it snows. there is skiing and sledding and skatting to do in the winter time and walking and walking with skis in the woods. there is time for play its not for the ones to stay in and not do nothing. if you go to recordeagle.com that is newspaper in michigan it shoud show you what they have up there they have place where there are pictures and surely they can show you snow and all are out doing things.
