What are the similarities and differences between the Russian Glasnost and China in 1989 (Oriental Glasnost)?

Hi! I'm doing a paper for my Spanish class where I need to compare the similarities and differences between the Russian Glasnost and the violence in China in 1989 that the articles we have are calling the Oriental Glasnost. Any help or resources with this information would be appreciated!

This isn't much of an answer, so I apologize in advance. I would like for you to provide me with the titles of the articles you have that call China's incidents in 1989 (ie: Tiananmen Square) the "Oriental Glasnost." I have never heard of this phrase and would like to see what academics are saying this. Thank you in advance.

As for differences, look at the dissolution of the Soviet Block in 1989--the tearing down of the Berlin Wall, the removal of the barbed wire between Hungary and Austria, appeals to investment and "free and fair" elections in Poland...All looked on with at least tacit approval by Gorby (ie: no violence as in the affairs in Central Europe in 1956). Contrast these events in the Soviet Bloc with Tiananmen Square Massacre in which any attempt at establishing reforms in China were knocked down (sometimes literally, by Chinese Army Tanks).
