Will my hair gel ever damage my hair?

I'm not sure about this, but I've been using gel that hardens almost every day for 1 year and nothing has happened to my hair. I heard/read that it makes people's hair fall off or it causes bald spots. I know it sounds ridiculous, but I want to know what it really does.

I use gel because my hair is so weird without it, it just gets frizzy and it gets all lumpy.

It depends. I've never heard of hair gel creating bald spots or anything that, but many hair gels contain alcohol, which can dry your hair out (and your hair needs moisture to stay healthy). I'd just make sure that you are taking care of your hair in every other way (not using too much heat, washing it regularly, combing/brushing it carefully) and it should all balance out. If you are really worried, you could use a deep conditioner every once and awhile to prevent/somewhat restore any damage.

I recommend using a type referred to as VitalCare it is geared up in a spiking/styling gel and basically a classic form of gel. I certainly have used this for a on an identical time as and it rather works super and you will use plenty and it wont get all annoying and sticky. It surely wont harm your hair it makes it vivid and mushy! Plus you will locate it at your close by Walmart! :)

absolutely it can. you can mechanically or chemical cause damage.

if you have gel and brush or comb to hard you yank those hairs right on out.

if you have a gel that contains Alcohol SD 30 or 40 your hair is going to go under major stress from it being dried out. this is usually found in your cheaper gels and hairsprays. so avoid that at all cost.

try mixing serum in with your gel to knock some of the frizzes out. or Biosilk, its expensive but it takes all that frizz away.

make sure that once a week, you use a clarifying shampoo ( try quantum, available at beauty retailers like sally beauty) and after you use that, shampoo normally and use a good conditioner. for daily washings, i use aussie (the purple ones) cleanse and mend. it has a shampoo and conditioner. it will also help your gel work better, because your hair will be cleaner.

No, it won't hurt your hair.

Bleaching and/or dying your hair too much can damage it. Also, wearing dreadlocks can make it fall out.

But hair gel is not harmful.
