Classic Mario on the Wii?

certain games are compatible with different controllers, it will display it before you have to download it, it's usually on the same page as the game and displayed by the different controller icons, usually you need a classic or gamecube control, it's not too much trouble to pick one up cheap on Ebay.

that's what I use the only games that require a classic controller are some games like super mario world for the SNES since the button configuration is different for the SNES

for any other console you can use a gamecube controller

Super Mario Bros 3 you are able to use you wiimote, you turn it side ways, you dont have to buy a gamecube controller or a classic controller for that particular game
