That food came from the Indians (from India) that migrated to Jamaica. They lived and worked on sugar cane plantations and they mostly ate vegetarian foods, this is one of them.

This is made with saltfish (salted pollack) and mashed potatoes. It is eaten with roti and it is yummy!!

Source(s): Me, I am Indian and Jamaican. My great great grandparents were one of the many Indians that made Jamaica their home.

by utilising East Indians, do you advise their resemblance with the Mongoloid race? for the reason that that complete geographical section has a Mongoloid presence, including China and Japan, i presume that a single race has been the origins for all of it. Of direction, it somewhat is not an entire respond to your qn. yet what's it which you basically say approximately saris originating from the Portuguese? have not heard approximately that.
