DeVilliers's constant ranting after the boks lose is getting old, really quick. When you are devoid of a game plan & consequently lose you have to find fault with others......they all do it. The AB's did it when the lost to France in the RWC

The Boks appear to have a one-eyed view of there own superiority, Yes they are RWC winners but as any Rugby player knows from an early age "Play to the Ref" which is what the AB's did, keep doing it until you get pinged then try something else. The Ref will never change a penalty even if he is wrong. AB's played the conditions (Bok Crowd, Percy's 100th) perfectly & really never looked like losing.....the Boks never really seriously threatened the AB's line, one out running, no back moves.

DeVilliers believes in his players but needs to give the a Plan to play too & a Plan B when it goes wrong.

    Stop whining & start coaching

Yes he is an amazing individual. I still cannot understand the strong reasoning to his appointment as coach for the BOK's. Hes has coached age group BOK sides but nothing at such a professional and elite level. Look at the international coaches around the world. The majority are proven and have the credentials to be any international sides coach. The majority are professional in their approach to the media and the players, they are articulate and are treated as heroes by the faithful. He is an under 18 coach that tripped over and ended up the senior coach...he does not have the credentials to substantiate his appointment.

If the senior players have enough sense they will do what the Brumbies did to Nucifora and vote him off the team. I am a very proud kiwi and love the AB's but I hated what I was feeling watching a passionate team like the BOK's capitulate and have no support by a very sub standard international coach.

Win the world cup, gain the respect of a nation and a rugby world, gain the respect of your team and then get sacked for what is deemed as South African political correctness. Bring back Jack White so the AB's have an adversary worthy of respect. The great and very proud BOK's are the laughing stock of world rugby due to the mismanagement of an idiot like DeVilliers....however I really feel sorry for Wallaby Deans and his Wannabes as they are going to cop the fury of a team embarrassed in front of their fans. If the Wannabes are able to sustain the onslaught and never lose their focus on their game plan they will go close. Good luck to the Wannabe's but I believe they are going to get smashed.

De Villiers always has a lot to say, but then again, there have been accusations of "cheating" before most rugby tests since the World Cup. Any rugby team will seek to exploit the limits of the law and referees are only human but it is the frequncy and magnitude of the refereeing discrepancies that irks most. (1) AB's get penalised (eventually) at the breakdown ; out come is a short arm penalty to SA but SA were almost exclusively penalised with long arm penaltys. (2) I don't think Butch got penalised for any questionable tackles on Saturday but after Cowans shoulder on Habana did'nt warrant even being spoken to, then it was easy for Brad Thorn to dump du Preez (3) The ABs, and McCaw, are the masters at nicking the ball at the breakdown (leagally or otherwise) and frequently leave the tackler smothering the ball. The reason they get away with it so much is because they swarm the breakdown quickly and hide there actions from the ref!

All comments about referees, cheating accusations etc do not however hide the simple facts that on the day, there was one AB TEAM but 15 South African PLAYERS on the pitch who were all individually trying to be gamebreaking heros!

There is an old adage that says "if it's not broken, don't fix it". The springboks were not broken, they played a World Cup winning style of rugby, why change? The ABs have played flamboyant beautiful rugby as long as I can remember, but how many World Cups have they won?

(Just for the record, I'm not South African, Habana did stand on the touch line and the pass from Jacobs to Percy was forward)

What a sideshow! Here is a guy who is so obviously out of his depth he feels he must run his mouth off to try and fit in to the cauldron that is Southern Hemisphere test rugby! Really, what else should we expect from an under 21 coach. The man has no idea what it is like to coach men. Its a bit different to coaching kids! His only qualification is the colour of his skin. Shit that sounds familiar.............. It would seem that he is under the delusion that if he opens his mouth he will sound like the genius he undoubtedly thinks he is! There is a saying, its better to shut your mouth and let people think you are a fool than open it and remove all doubt! SA rugby is now on the slippery slope. The only thing thay has kept them in the race thus far is the outright quality on the senior players. However now that de Villiers is pissing everyone in the team off, group by group, even that will end soon. The assistant coaches even, especially Dick are even wondering where the hell this guy is coming from. With such dissention in the camp how long do you expect him to last? While he remains, Australia and ourselves are laughing! What a moron.

The sad thing is that De Villers was set in by the SA GOVERNMENT??? an hour and a half after they won the world cup. They want to get more Black people into rugby which is absurd, cos in SA the majority of blacks play football. The SA rugby board should have no place allocating player or coach quotas based on the colour of their skin. If Australia's rugby board had an Aborigonal quota, the people would go mad! Look now what is happening to the team... they have all the potential in the world and it's going to crap because of a crap coach that shouldn't be in there. The international board should not allow any team to select players based on skin colour, this is reverse racism and would not fly for any other country. The end result is that it is sending SA rugby backwards, and that isn't good for anyone.

De Villiers what a laughing name in rugby. I mean the coach not the player. SA been the world champ, yet De Villiers brought it down to no champ with his mouth.

His mouth sounded like a fafafine mouth. All he do is talk about the opposition. His tactic almost work with Carters kicking, but he forgot Carter has other skills under his sleeves.

What a waste of time they put him in there. SA rugby is great, and Mr handsome's (LOL) mouth is making the team look less professional. He needs to get a life. He should be coughing netball instead. That way his mouth fit better in that growd. Again netball is professional he might ruin it too.

Well to be honest, he has no leadership skills at all. It shows, all he do is use his mouth to cover for whatever happens after. All the skills he has is in his mouth.

Hope SA rugby fire him for the sake of the future of SA rugby.

Let De villiers keep up his whinging. From memory the referee penalised both sides for infringing, not just one. For a long time the score was only 5-0 and the Boks at times were camped on our tryline and made numerous attacks from deep in their half and counterattacks that loomed as being dangerous. The Boks had their chances of winning the game but blew it. I'm not tired of hearing De Villiers. The more he whinges the more his team has lost and only serves to undermine any expertise he may have if any. I don't think its uncommon for any speingbok team to whinge if beaten on their own home soil especially if beaten by the all blacks. One more loss wills erve to prove that world cup winning coach Jack White shopuld have been kept on instead of the incumbent. If south african rugby has any integrity it will throw De Villiers out if the springboks succumb to another loss and finish at the bottom of the tri nations.

  • Yes i agree he needs to look at the mold of henry and co and learn how to lose gracefully (on the rare occassion it happens to the abs!) and stop whinging to try and cover up the fact that hes an incompetent coach who has even worse public relations skills ,at least jake would nearly admit we were the best team on the planet and was a likeable rogue (before the world cup), devilliers is proving to be as annoying and as much use as rob andrews role in the england set up.great to see the abs will be ranked number 1 by the years end keep up the good work ted and co many happy memories to come

This was a great test match and the AB's were fantastic. I think De Villiers is entertaining. His press conferences are like a comedy show. I think He should keep going we should just not take him too seriously. He has some life and colour. It was not too long ago we blamed the ref for our losses. We did that with our official review as well! At the end of the day the results say it all AND WE WON!

I hope that this sick and illiterate clown SoMeOnEin dawOrld is not a Kiwi. If he is, then God help us. What an absolute dipstick.

As to the question, I think that DeVilliers is just another coach in a long line of coaches who get carried away with their inane comments. I mean a little while ago we had All Black coaches who would talk up the chances of some third rate teams beating us. I remember one who actually said we had to be careful of Italy - Italy!!!!!!! We would inevitably end up thrashing them.

Unfortunately, I think it is the modern way. Either moan and groan or talk up the non existent opposition. Either way, it is just another way of covering their butts in the event of a loss. Why don't these coaches just say it like it is instead of playing politician.
