What is appropriate for a female guest to wear to a November wedding?
I am clueless on what to wear. I'm guessing a dress that is not white. But what color/s? What style? I dont want to stick out or look silly for dressing innappropriate.

It depends on the formality of the event and time of day. In general I would say a twin set in an autumn color like eggplant or an icy lavender, taupe, chocolate brown, the fall shades of the yellow/orange family (not too bright or pastel) or dark reds would be lovely with either a black twirly skirt or a coordinating one and pretty accessories and shoes would take you most anywhere and you could get more blingy accessories for evening and more toned down ones for day.
Also a solid colored dress in those colors would be great. Black would work depending on your locality and the time of day.
A beautiful top with ruffle or lace trim would also work with a black or coordinating skirt and beautiful accessories.
For a daytime wedding that's not mentioned as formal you should be able to wear dressy black trousers instead with dressy shoes and nice accessories.

Source(s): I tried to give you a variety of stylish options. Obviously a lot of similar styles are available that are not as expensive. Good luck! - Anonymous1 decade ago
When in doubt, wear a little black cocktail dress. It's classic, yet stylish. It's also sophisticated, but is sexy in a classy way. Black is becoming a very acceptable and common seen dress color for weddng guests. If you get a dress that fits your body type and personality, you'll be a knock out.
Get to the mall and just try on as many different dresses as you can. You never know what will look good.

I think its always safe to wear a nice cocktail style dress that comes below the knee, some strappy shoes. If its a cooler day/night, you can always team it with a shawl or something. I try to never dress in the same colours as the bridal party but thats just me. If it's an outdoor wedding, make sure your heel is appropriate for the ground. You don't want to end up sinking lol.

Not sure what hemisphere you are in. November here is spring. I always wear a (non revealing) cocktail dress unless the invite suggests to wear something else.
Ask some other guests what they plan to wear. That way you can get an idea on how everyone else is dressing.

A little black dress is always appropriate! But if you don't want black (there is nothing wrong with it but some people don't like wearing black to a wedding) go with another dark coloured cocktail dress (like brown or deep burgundy). Dark colours are always good for a more formal event, especially if you don't know how formal it will be. And a cocktail dress is a pretty safe bet for any formality level (unless it explicitly says black-tie or something).
Don't forget a nice wrap to keep you warm!
Good Luck!

Navy is a fantastic color for any time of year. Simple but elegant - you want to look nice but you don't want to distract from the bride. A simple shift style can be dressed up or down. Most people don't have black tie weddings, which would require a much more formal dress, but a shift would be appropriate for most weddings.

You can never go wrong with a little black dress. Every woman needs one in her closet!
