If a full grown Chimpanzee was to compete at London 2012 in which event would it do best?

Wrestling, they would tear apart any wrestler.

Chimps wouldn't do well in weight lifting however, they're strong yes but their muscle attachments are meant for pulling motions not lifting. They don't have the lower back and leg strength to actually stand up right and press that much weight. But if you have them pull the weight, then yes they would easily win.

They unfortunately won't do well in gymnastics either because they don't have the classical form, they can't straighten up their body and legs and keep them together. They can perform the routines, just that they won't have the "perfect" human form.

Apes are far stronger than they appear. They would probably excel in long jump and high jump. Weightlifting would be child's play. Uneven bars maybe, but the contestant must have a mapped routine to be successful for medal contention. One responder said Tae Kwon Do and I agree. The longer arms would be formidable with martial arts besides the agility of the smaller frame.

Chimpanzees can not swim. Their bodies are denser than human bodies. That means they are heavier than a human the same size. They sink to the bottom of the water.

Chimpanzees are six times as strong as a human of the same size so they should win non-swimming events.

You propose Subdue? I nevertheless think of an entire grown chimp might subdue a MMA expert in a No-Holds Barred difficulty. that's tremendously unlikely the chimp has brains sufficient to appreciate or abide via the guidelines.

Tae-Kwon Do. Chimps are freaking strong and crazy. I think they could kick major ass and take the gold.

Well, it depends on their personality, because as you now, everyone is unique and different. So all I am saying is that each chimpanzee would be good at something different, like a zebra has unique stripes and almost everything is unique and different.

I reckon shot put, javelin, water-polo strong arms & legs Goal keepers would be great at it and my last pick would be wrestling.
