ballroom dance shoes?

Hey. I just started taking ballroom dance and I need to get some special shoes. I know that they have a heel but how high is it supposed to be? I also know that they have a slight point at the end where your toes are. I searched the web and all i could find were latin dancing shoes. Are they the same? Any suggestions would help. Ohh and also could you guys recommend like some sites to buy them? I don't want to spend more then $60 before shipping and they need to look good or normal. Thankyou!

Update:

Most importantly I need to know what shoes for ballroom dance are like standard or latin or swingers???

There is a difference between ballroom and latin shoes. Ballroom shoes have a lower heel (about 1 inch) and a stiffer shank, latin shoes generally have about a 1 1/2 inch heel and are more flexible. Some good shoe brands are Supadance, Dance Naturals and Ray Rose, but none of them are going to come cheap. Sorry, but it's not really possible to find decent quality men's shoes for under $100, so you might have to up your budget a bit.

Latin shoes tend to have heels about 1 1/2" compared to standard shoes with their 1" heels. Despite what seems a tiny difference, I still recall the first time I wore Latin shoes. I felt like I was skiing, and found a new respect for ladies. I can't imagine how they survive in 2 1/2 or 3" heels.

I couldn't recommend anything in your price range. They generally seem to run about $100-$130.

the latin dancing shoes are what the guys were in pretty much all the ballroom dance styles.

if you go to www.discountdancesupply.com you might be able to find some decently priced ones there.
