Question

so i txted this guy for the first time on saturday
he txted back and said that he left his phone in his truck overnight. ok. he said that one of my best friends told him that i liked him and that we should go out sumtime.
so was that a strange way of asking me out or was he just saying that hes interested in me?

then i was like i g2g cuz i got 2 drive home and hes like thats ok im working anyway

so was he texting me cuz he was really bored and had nothing better to do or did he do it because he likes me and wants to talk to me more?

he might just want to see if you two could be compatible to be in a relationship, dont overthink. go out hang out with him sometime!

It doesn't make sense that you would immediately jump to the conclusion that he only texted you because he was bored.  That sounds like you have insecurity issues. I think you should take what happened at face value and understand that he likes you and that's why he asked you out. Guys don't offer to take a girl out that they don't like or are not interested in.  When you communicate with him again, just let him know when you can go out with him and take it from there. Trust. ';-)

Think first if that guy is telling the truth that one of your best friends told him that you liked him. If that is not a fact, then that guy is telling a lie which you must not bother to think of. If it's true then it's really your call. Don't make a big fuzz on something not worth believing. And lastly, don't be so gullible that can make you taken advantage of.
