backflip in swimming?

how come when im swiming and i try to do a back flip, i like end up fliping over to the side and then my head gets this huge pain. it just killlls

    You may be flipping over to the side because you aren't doing the back flip quick enough or putting enough force into it. You can always try pushing off a wall for help... but be careful not to hit the wall on your way back up. You also may not be angling your body correctly as well as having it in the right position. Make sure you are in a tight secure ball while flipping.

    As far as your head being in pain. It can be a bunch of things. Make sure you aren't letting water get into your nose. You can prevent this by blowing air out of your nose while flipping. Another possibility could be that your breathing is off. Make sure you are breathing calmly and in even breaths. Lastly, it could just simply hurt from trying too many times. The blood rushing in and out of your head so many times can cause this. If you try 5 times or so and fail. Take a 5 minute break to get yourself adjusted. Then try again.
