If you are keeping fancy's yes two-4 are fine, no more.

You don't need stress coat and stress zyme. Stress coat (haven't used it in years) as I believe is a water conditioner as well. You need to maintain a weekly 25% water change and use the stress coat in the replacement water each time. They work immediately. I usually add my water conditioner to the bucket then fill it with water.

Yes keep the filters running at all times. Stress zyme will more than likely be pulled out bythe carbon filters. As will the stress coat which is why you add it to the water prior to adding it to the tank. It will imediately pull heavy metals and neutralize other chemicals in the water. Adding it to the tank will only allow it to work until it is pulled out.

First, to Hermit-- your all-caps answers are getting you a lot of thumbs-down results even when your answers are decent. Do NOT use all-caps,. It is considered 'shouting', and very rude.

Two goldfish in a 20-gallon tank should be a good fit. You didn't say how big or what kind of goldfish. It makes a difference. Fancy goldfish grow more slowly than Comet or Common types.

If you're not sure about the products you are treating the water with, you could go to the pet shop and have them show you what each product is for. It depends on your water. Do you need to remove Chlorine, is it hard or soft, what is the PH, and so on. Most pet shops test your water for free. Bring a sample (about 1/2 cup) in a very clean bottle. You can't guess the water conditions by looking at it.

The filter won't remove the stress zyme & stress coat. Carbon in the filter will remove some medications. The filter should be on 24/7, it helps oxygenate the water, among other things.

One grown fish will need a 20 gallon tank. It will be OK for two smaller ones, but they will outgrow it. Fish live for a long time, and grow to be pretty large.

The general formula is 20 gallons for the first fish + 10 for every fish after that.

You hear people say that fish only grow to the size of their containers, but what really happens is the outside of the body stays small, while their insides keep growing.

Someone else said they kept 11 goldfish in a 55 gallon? That's waaaay too small. They should have at least 120 gallons. Hope they read this!

Go see what people have to say on other sites, aquaticcommunity.com is great.

One goldfish for a 20-gallon tank.

Maybe two small ones, but they'll grow bigger so eventually you'll need a bigger tank.

    Stress Coat works instantly.

Stress Zyme is a bacterial culture that theoretically speeds up maturing of the biological filter of the tank. Whether or not it really does this is a matter of controversy. In any case, it's supposed to start working immediately and reach maximum efficiency after a few weeks.

howdy Bubble the terrific decision you are able to take good now could be to go away your goldfish on my own :) in case you have some money, get a one hundred gallon tank, set it up and upload 2-3 extra goldfish. stable success

I have 11 in my 55 gallon tank.

But i have 2 fantails that are pretty big,3 Shubunkin 2 Calico 2 common gold fish, and 2 black moors.

And depending on the size of the fish and the type. You could go with 5 3-4 inch fantail or shubunkin.

here maybe this web site will help.

I never used the stress stuff unless my fish showed signs.I have had my fish for almost 2 years.March of 09 will be 2 years
