Is aunt flow just late?

Hi there, it may seem strange but the reason i am asking this is because:

We are ttc #1. I came of BC straight after my last period which finished on the 5th Jan. I ovulated on the 15th Jan, i am 99 % certain of this as i have been calander tracking for a few months now, been watching my cm etc and during the predicted ovulation time i had left hand side cramps down low, very sensitve nipples and a few other things that i know is my ovulation, there was plenty of CM on the 14th/15th then completely dry on the 16th for the following few days (sorry if tmi!)

So ovulation was the 15th - we baby danced on the 11th,13th, 14th & 16th - completely covering the most fertile time!

Have had headaches and been very tired.

AF was due on the 31st but today, 3rd feb (4 days late) it hasn't arrived. The last few days when AF was supposed to have shown i have been having normal pms type pains, almost like my body thinks it is having aunt flow but not if u know what i mean!

Whilst on the pill AF was always regular on a 28 day cycle.

So my question is - is aunt flow late because i have just finished the pill or is it possible that i am pregnant?

I haven't taken an HPT test yet cause i don't want to be disappointed if its negative - remember this is the 1st month.

By the way we are trying not to 100% be soley focused on ttc and I'm not stressing about it (yet!). Have been tracking with the Calendar dates and with CM but not yet bbt'ing. I am wanting to know what other people think.

Thanks!!

Update:

Shortie – Thanks, bbd a bit since then, not just on the dates mentioned :)

Shock – Haven’t tested yet because of that fear of disappointment but your quite right the sooner I know the sooner I can start receiving care. I think i’ll test at one week late! Yes taking pre-natals – went to my dr before stopping bc to chat to him about everything.

Spacey Lacey – Yes have been on it about 9 years – was on one for 7 years straight then I changed to the one I have just come off. Thanks. Oh and im seriously not stressing about it just yet!

Cindyb- Well I think most people in this section understand all the abbreviations

Ttc = Trying to conceive

Aunt flow = period

Bc – birth control

cm- cervical mucus

baby danced – had sex

hpt – home pregnancy test

happygolucky- yes I am keeping track of everything daily – think I am going to have to take a test soon! Its not that I don’t want to, it’s that I don’t want to be disappointed! Thanks.

I've known people that skipped periods after birth control, but I've also known people that got pregnant right away. I can't actually be too much help with that part.

What I do know is that desire not to know for fear of disappointment. My doctor advised me to wait a week after a missed period and then test. If it was negative, wait one more week and test again. Not all tests are equal, but I used First Response when I got my positive. It does have a really low threshold. The sooner you know, the better care you can receive.

As far as symptoms go, I felt like I was getting my period except my sore breasts wouldn't stop hurting. I didn't feel all that nausous until 6 weeks. I knew I was late, but I didn't test until then because I swore it would be a disappointment. I was prepared for pregnancy though, taking my vitamins and eating right. I hope you are doing the same. Good luck.

I would suggest testing maybe at the end of the week just so you have an answer. I totally understand your confusion, I've been 28 days my whole life, on bcp, off bcp, no matter what and all of a sudden I had a 43 day cycle and then a 33 day cycle. It's annoying, frustrating and disappointing to see those darn negative signs.

I know getting off BCP can make your body do strange things and many people believe it takes awhile to get the BCP out of your system. Were you on it for a long time?

You are definitely on the right track by charting and checking your CM, sounds like you've definitely educated yourself. My only advice is to not stress because I think that is what is making my cycles all loopy.

    Best of luck to you!!!

Well it could be that aunt flow wants to come. When I got off the bc my nipples became sensitive too, had nausea two days, sometimes like lightheadness. My aunt flow came a month and a half later. Then as soon as aunt flow came my nipples went back to normal of no pain. So expect it could be aunt flow but Oh also had cramping on and off. Mild cramps they were. Sometimes on the right too. But keep track of your days and symptoms so that way if you are really wondering if you are pregnant just take a test, it won't hurt. Get those two tests in a box. Best wishes.

Your English needs some translation, & since these abbreviations mean nothing to me (or anyone else in the medical field), I can only imagine a pregnancy test would be your best bet.
