I want to sell an Ebook that deals with honesty in commerce, would it be better to charge 50.00 or 49.95?

The idea here is that typical consumers will look at the price and see 49.95 as being 50 dollars anyway and that the 49.95 just looks "gimmicky". Does anyone actually believe that people find more "comfort" in the 5 cent discount? Or is this just simply another tactic to sell? I guess I am asking if people would think that the $50.00 looks more honest than $49.95 or does it just look unprofessional?

Update:

I understand the psychological appeal, I think anyone over the age of 12 knows that the reason it is 5 cents less is to make it "look" like it is cheaper... what I am wondering is if it looks more honest to people who are aware of that trick or just weird.

Simply because it looks like a lower amount, the $49.95 would be your best bet. Why do you think all those ads on TV have products for $19.95? If they said $20, they wouldn't sell as many. It is simply a psychological perception. If you went into a store and they had identical products - one had a price of $50 and the other had a price of $49.95 - which one would you buy?
