The last airline I flew on only uses planes from the early 1980s. It's perfectly safe, and a lot cheaper to update and maintain an older plane than to purchase a brand new one. Older planes still go through meticulous safety inspections, and they would not be kept in service if there was even the tiniest question of their safety and airworthiness.

There are planes from the 70s that are still in use. An in some countries you may planes from 50-60s.

Believe in or not, 1989 is not that old for a plane if it is well maintained. A would trust an older model Boeing 767 to a newer airbus any day of the week.

    1989 is nothing.

The USAF is still using B-52's that are 46 years old!

With proper maintenance and inspection, planes can fly a LONG time.

I believe it, have you ever flown on a plane that has ash trays? They banned smoking on planes in 1988, so that should tell you something.

If the aircraft wasnt safe it wouldnt be flying.
