Diana Ross and the Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Four Tops, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, The Jackson 5, The Temptations, Martha and the Vandellas, Mary Wells, The Marvelettes, Tammi Terrell, The Isley Brothers, Kim Weston, Jr. Walker and the All-Stars, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Rare Earth, The Commodores, Lionel Richie, Rick James.......these are the greats of the motown era. They are some of the greatest songs/hits ever created. Marvin Gaye is classic and timeless as well as the Isley brothers. Four tops are great and the jackson 5 as well. Good music from a great era. Can't wait.

It's a style of music that was popular in the 1950's and 60's. It's kind of a mix of Jazz, early rock and roll, sort of primitive R&B. If you look up the original songs that were sung on American Idol last week (from the Suprimes, Jackson 5, The Temptations etc) and down load a couple you will find out what motown is.
